will it take another Snowden-level whistleblower to prove things like Microsoft's insistence on shit like TPM is just pressure from the NSA to be able to spy on the entire world? do we really have no defense from corpos telling us what we can run on our machines?

The NSA called iPhone users as zombies since the phones were so easy to hack. You need something more extreme like Bill Gates fucking children and giving the Mossad backdoor access to Windows.

You let ideological subversives take over gaming and tech---keeping in mind, the goal is to subvert US, not the system; it was always the establishment doing the subverting. You asked for this because fighting them would make you too "radical," and now it's too late, thanks to the majority of the population having a biological backdoor safely and effectively installed into their genetic code to allegedly protect them from an allegedly-zoonotic virus.

Wasn't Pokemon Go a CIA project or something?

you can't prove anything these days, people just believe whatever bullshit from their chosen media outlet. The whole idea behind the Enlightment and the Industrial Revolution was the notion of objective reality - that things can be tested, proved and used to benefit civilization. Now that's all gone, with phrases like "my truth" that deny the existence of actual truth. We are entering a new dark age of ignorance.

No, it will take Microsoft getting hacked by China, Russia, Iran or North Korea and individual Americans' having all their credit cards stolen for people to get the message.

Give it a few years, it is inevitable. Look at how big the Equifax hack was and the lack of consequences for anyone involved with it. If banks can't take their security seriously nobody else can. Look at how the US military hosts it's servers in China, gets IT support from China, and basically sells all our state secrets and data to India. Eventually this will fuck Americans, inevitably.

I think there was a cancelled videogame about this.

>b-but you encrypting your stuff is surely a ploy for the government to read your info
That's retarded, why would it be harder for them to read unencrypted stuff?

You can install Windows 11 without TPM thanks to Rufus, and still have the same level of support pirates get... I think?

Entering? We've been in it since Television went mainstream 50 years ago. We're at the end of it. The largest promoter of non-truth, the American mainstream media, is on it's deathbed. Radio died to the Internet, Newspapers died to Google, Network TV died with the Digital Switchover, and Cable will be gone by 2030. It will be replaced by worthless AI slop, but the AI slop is completely useless on it's face and self-replicates itself whereby most people will just stop consuming media. Just as they did prior to the rise of American media in the early part of the twentieth century. Which was when America as a country and society still functioned. The same for Europe, although Europeans are smart enough to regulate their media and will cut this shit off much sooner as they start paying for their own defense (which media and information is a part of, though Americans will deny this).

We're at the end of television. The 20th century has finally ended and with it the society it demanded. Information will soon be free and unshackled by American companies, publishers, studios, marketers and credit card processors. Already is the case in most of Europe and any place outside of Europe/America. Which is how things were before media was centralized with broadcast.

No. Or, well, only the part where, several years after the game had already died, they started asking the 5 players remaining to actually scan shit.

the nsa doesn't need access to people's machines when they willingly upload every waking moment of their lives to the internet whether through social media, texts, emails, message apps, etc. etc. what snowden showed us is that ALL of that data on the internet is intercepted, recorded, and archived (i.e. udc/cnci) with the participation of social media, telecom, etc. and is shared between numerous governments.

ever since surveillance shit got leaked people have just become even more complicit. no one seems to care anymore it's just an accepted aspect of reality. governments should just roll on with sticking cctv in peoples rooms and toilets, if a populist like Trump does it, there would be little resistance and his smooth brained voters will unironically use the "well what are you hiding".

TV at least was centrally controlled, so there was coherence. The people in charge of it were generally intelligent, self-serving and had some sense of strategy and responsibility. Now it's just chaos with no-one at the wheel.

It was always chaos with nobody at the wheel. It's just become more obvious as power has centralized and the average competency has reduced. It is ending in the only way it could end: with self-replicating AI slop finally killing all interest in traditional legacy media.
