the worldbuilding isn't really any deeper or more complex than any other jrpg's is but at least it doesn't invest you in something just to have it all end forever when the credits roll so it does something very few jrpg series do though the writing can be EXTREMELY hit or miss

Just played the Daybreak games, and they're missing something. I think the fact that the characters in Thors, the SSS and to a lesser extent the guild were bound to superiors allowed for more interesting political maneuvers and tough choices. Van is pretty much always free to do whatever he wants. He apparently knows everyone from all games yet it feels so disconnected from everything else. Also fuck them for bringing back the rng dungeons and gacha system of reverie.

Kuro 2 just killed the hype for this arc for me. Falcom should be fucking ashamed that they released it and while Kai was better it still just felt like it was just missing something. Falcom's games were always super low budget and ghetto but it used to feel like they at least tried but with Kuro 2 and Kai it just feels like they completely gave up creatively. I'm too committed at this point but god was this arc just so completely mismanaged. I hope the Sky FC remake is a nice change of pace because if they fuck that up to then I don't think I'll ever play another Falcom game again.
