I always remember arcade machines having cheap as hell buttons compared to what console controllers had.
Or maybe they were just worn down by the early 2000s and never replaced.

Redpill me on Korean sticks. They have more tension so they're better for 3D fighters than Japanese and American ones or something?

Pic related arrives this week; it's my first arcade stick after always using a controller. Seems like people are happy with it. Is leverless good?

Do you know how to wavedash in tekken? It requires a forward input, followed by a neutral frame (the stick doesn't click any direction), then a down into down-forward motion. If you have a japenese lever, releasing the stick from the forward input will make it bounce back into inputting a back input because the spring inside the lever isn't that strong. These are known as ghost inputs (unintended inputs that can fuck your wavedash up). The K-lever uses a rubber grommet that is way more tense, if you release it when holding forward it will go back to neutral and stay there. It means with some quick hand movement you can release the stick with 1 finger and quickly press it down (into down-forward) with another finger. This way you don't have to manually guide the stick through the entire neutral input and can just tap and release with your fingers.

>cheap as hell buttons
>compared to what console controllers had
Nigger, console controllers are the epitome of cheap flimsy plastic garbage. It's year 2025 and they still pretend that unkillable metal mechanics with contactless sensors isn't an industry standard literally everywhere.

Wrist wreckers. Keyboard is so much better than arcade sticks for fighting games.

'leverless' is the more general term but yes, they've mostly rendered sticks obsolete

While they're objectively better for gameplay they're just way less fun than churning an actual arcade stick imo

amerifat concave arcade buttons always had like 2 centimeters of travel
happ sticks and monkey buttons were designed not to be broken by kids actively trying to destroy them. japs were able to have arcade controls that were primarily designed to play games enjoyably

Do you think Hitbox is seething over not having released their own smaller version of the controller before others started knocking them off?

Do you think Hitbox is actually going to take legal action? They do actually have a patent on the hitbox layout.
