Considering how many actually released projects Alexander Berezin has been a part of, I am quite certain it will end up being released.
There is a caveat though, he's currently also working on a fallout 1 and 2 like rpg for New Blood, and one would think that an actual paid project takes priority over a fan project like this, so it's probably not coming out anytime soon.

I never understood this, just make it internally as a similar game and then when it is released just leak a mod pack with all of the Fallout stuff in it. Internally they could test using the Fallout sprites/textures and in the end it is still what they want but it avoids the biggest legal issues and early DMCA notices killing the project like with nintendo stuff.

well the trailers progress report did mention they are about 30% done with creature sprites and animations. While trailer showed pretty much almost every type of creature, except molerats and regular rats, that are in original necropolis

it having enough assets to grow into recreating F1 locations in this gzdoom conversion would be some Ashes 2063 tier success story. Or hell, just making a ashes style FPS set in the F1 world with its own story

Check Ashes 2063 as an example. It's "Doom", but it has NPCs with dialogues, cities with vendors. RPG stats and quests is not something that is impossible to implement in GZDoom, a lot of Doom mods have stats and leveling and stuff like that.

Holy cow! Their first video wasn't a meme, they're really cooking!
But there are several obvious issues in the trailer
They're all in this screenshot

The messages are repeated over and over again. You see a chair, you see a toilet, you see a couch. It doesn't look like it will work the way it did in the actual Fallout games, where you had to click on stuff. These just trigger when you aim at something. Also, some of the messages aren't even finished, like this one "Ghouls are a type of mutant, humans with significant". This will get old really fast

That's a case of bad fidelity. The weapon sprites (hands), world textures, and 3D models look better, but the enemies are pixelated for some reason (that's really strange considering they actually 3D modelled them)

I'm not sure if the game will have an inventory system for guns, but in the trailer, the player is limited to just a handful of guns, Doom style (actually, even less than in Doom). Just like in Doom, there's an ARMS section on the HUD, and, as you can see, there are only six numbers. That's to be expected though, it's GZDoom, after all. But modern Doom TCs usually have more guns

All in all, I'm just nitpicking. I know what it is, a Fallout themed Doom TC. It won't be an RPG with 40 guns. There won't be different approaches to "missions" or long dialogues. It's just a shooter game. But I really want to play it and it looks cool as fuck

Yeah, gameplay-wise, there was rarely anything all that good about the Interplay Fallouts. Combat was terrible, building your character was shallow, dialogue choices were mostly meh, exploration was limited and straightforward, just all around kinda mediocre. What makes the game work is the atmosphere and the setting, which is why the fans care so much more about story, tone, and how the canon is treated more than anything else.

That's why, even though Fallout 2 did some improvements to the gameplay and the quality of dialogue choices, it's considered infinitely worse because it doesn't treat the setting as seriously. That's why, even though Fallout 3 is at worst only as shallow of an RPG as Fallout 1, people crucify that game because of its shitty story and the "pulp-come-to-life" take it has on the setting (and why people suck off FNV so much despite being mostly the exact same game but with only the smallest of system additions)

True, I also noticed the aiming mode switching on when the aiming cursor came up while watching through the video a second time.
But so far it seems like it behaves in a way that I described prior, you can see the percentage change as he gets closer.
Kinda hard to say what the actual point of the system is considering you can seemingly have perfect aim without it as well and it doesn't seem to work as some sort of an auto-aim feature since the percentage immediately disappeared as soon as the aiming reticle wasn't on top of the ghoul.

Microsoft doesn't do copyright faggotry with fangames. They actually have a standing fangame license with like, three big rules
1) It has to be entirely non-commercial, both in terms of not monetizing it + not using it to drive other monetization
2) It can't be poronographic or hateful
3) You can't rip game assets to make you sure
And a soft 4th rule of "Try not to make it look like it's official/officially-endorsed"

Other than that, you can basically use anything that Microsoft owns or had owned. For example: Microsoft owns the video game rights to Battletech, so the devs for Wolves are entirely free to make their own take on MechAssault (although the IP owners in general for BT are pretty chill, so they probably wouldn't go after them anyways)
