Look, I get it, dev guy. You're obsessed with a game from the mid 2000s that was built with a C tier budget with D tier writing that wraps around to being unironically good. There's worse things to be autistic about. But you CAN'T just make a direct clone. You got a new setting - that's good! The gameplay and moves... they're basically a 1-1 ripoff of the original. That's bad. Like, lawsuit level bad if Capcom gave a shit. God Hand diversified itself purely on gameplay alone. It doesn't have an inherent "theme" to go off of. Like another anon said, you literally bounce from a western stage, to a cult hideout, to fucking Naples, a carnival, a hidden lab, a demon castle, and so on. But now since you want to copy the game, it's now ironically up to YOU to have a theme to go off of. Why should we play your game? What makes it different from God Hand? In a way, games like these are arrogance in a way; the idea that your version of the game you like is better in some way. Not to say you're arrogant, but that's the objective core. This is perfectly fine and natural. But if I were you, and I'm hard set on the cowboy theming, I'd jack that shit up to 20. Go all in. Don't just make them fight normally, make it funny AND cool. Gun-katas, fighting with guns, using spurs for kicks, parrying and dodging bullets, horse combat or assists or even background elements where you can use horses for combos! Gun clashes, a quick draw duel mechanic, coin flips, gambling, poker, tombstones, you have over a MILLION ways to go about this to make it sick, and you just wanna be a GH copy? Come on nigga. You genuinely have some gold to be an actual GH2 successor. Don't fucking squander it to fanboyism. Always dare to be greater than your inspiration.
