>>716050831 (OP)it matters to PR and public perception, but the problem is that the outraged interest groups are mistaken to be bigger than they are IRL, which diminishes sales because it's alienating actual normies, who are living IRL more traditionally than the femoid and tranny feminist activist groups are online. But because internet is marginalized by default, the "internet population" appears to have a more even ratio of LGBTs and feminists than there are people actually using their money on games, and in the grander scheme it's still an industry that attracts people by the old methods of marketing. Having pissed-off-looking female protagonists isn't doing games any favors even with a lot of women. They're still not buying action games made with a macho mindset of "epic battles & explosions". Girls still want pastel-colored "fashion" games, and action games should have less conflict, which is why Baldur's Gate and Dragon Age are huge with women, because you can often ignore combat and be driven by all the talking between the characters.
Engineering games to its target demographic is much more important than "representation" is.
