Remakes and "remasters" should be made illegal to force developers to actually make some new games rather than raping their old property

>most of them flop
>remakes/remasters a game
>"URGH MAKE SOME NEW GAMES ALREADY"

There's no end for you people, shouldn't you be at least be glad that your remastered/remade game will be remembered/played by a newer audience?

Copyright should just be capped at 5-10 years. The excessive duration made some sense in the 19th and early 20th century when they had to cut deals with publishers just to get widespread publication, but now everyone can self-publish and the paradigm of publishing leeches is largely obsolete.
Even CEOs of major publishing companies are complaining that the only new blood AA they get is IPO scams.

The problem is simply that we are now almost entirely on generic hardware, using the same handful of licensed engines.
There is no real reason to remake/remaster a game, when it would usually just be better to release a patch or mod for an old game or even emulator.
Game dev tools are also now so freely available that a lot of corporate remakes are almost fully obsoleted by their fan remake equivalents (AM2R for instance).
If the new audience wants to play the games, then they're usually available unless they've been delisted.

I agree, newgrounds frog. Same with movies. Took my kid to the theatre and we saw ads for lilo and stitch and how to train your dragon that were practically shot for shot remakes of the trailers I saw as a youngin but they looked worse.
