redpill me on DCS
is it worth getting into?
No. For how much it costs to get into, you might as well go get a PPL and rent a real plane. It's only good at simulating systems and procedure, the AI sucks, it has no focus or consistency in module development, and is actually less realistic than even War Thunder in certain aspects, like radar and infrared modelling. If you really want this experience, get Falcon BMS instead, since it's a better simulator in all the ways that matter AND it costs nothing AND it isn't like 500gb. If you just want a fun combat flight sim and don't need to go all-in on realism, try Nuclear Option, or maybe IL-2 if you prefer prop planes.
>>716069872 (OP)Yes, it's dirt cheap compared to buying a proper HOTAS and VR Helmet. Just don't touch (((steam))) edition.
>>716069872 (OP)HAAHAHAHA no like come the fuck on you can buy REAL games for this cash and several of them if you like older ones too. Or just get a real licence and fly actuall planes.
>>716069872 (OP)If you care about the full systems simulation then yes, it's very fun if you find learning all of that entertaing. If you just want to fly combat missions then you have better options like
>>716070346 mentioned.
>>716072104The cost of every single plane and mission DLC (which you will never have enough time to learn and play) will not get you a real license. Not even close.
>>716072927Why would you ever use steam cancer? They have their own store, updater and modding site.
>>716073030I like centralized game libraries and the majority of what I've got is on steam
>>716073116It's a (((centralized))) useless 3rd party bloatware. You get the worse version of the game, late updates, can't even control when and how the game updates, no features like free trial versions, no sales etc etc. They only put it on steam for those mentally ill zoomers who simply can't use games without their favorite CIA botnet.
>>716073675>without their favorite CIA botnetSays that while using same botnet like come one man do you really thing that feds dont have the devs by the balls already ?
>>716069872 (OP)Its got spaghetti code from 2008, they release unfinished modules, and apparently don't pay 3rd party devs while the owner takes the profits for his airplane collection. The A10 and F14 are really fun though but I enjoy Nuclear Option more as of late.
>>716073785DCS is an actual simple web store and doesn't force you to install a fucking system service that is spying on you 24/7, whenever you play the game or not.
Got me IL-2 1946
Got me mod packs
Got me DCG
Simple as
>>716070346>For how much it costs to get into, you might as well go get a PPL and rent a real planeNext time try putting the obscenely retarded part of the post at the end, not the beginning.
>>716074697>doesn't force you to install a fucking system serviceSays that while using a operating system and 4chan come one man
>>716069872 (OP)As someone who has 2k hours in it, hell no.
And it's dying as we speak.
>>716071342>Just don't touch (((steam))) edition.spotted the cuck. With steam if something goes south you can actually get your money back. with the standalone version you're told to fuck off.
>>716072228>>716074829someone lives in a shithole that still lacks airports
>>716069872 (OP)BMS actually feels like fighting a war
>>716077062I live in a shithole with one of the biggest and busiest airports in Europe. Has nothing to do with
>dude flying IRL is cheaper than playing DCSbeing a single digits IQ statement.
>>716077116BMS feels like dying for israel
>>716077828airportS. with an S. if you have nothing but one big airport that's like claiming your country has restaurants when all it has is an enormous mcdonalds.
