>Starting weapon is not only the most satisfying but also the strongest one
Isn't this bad design?

Not if the other weapons at least have their niches.

Considering the game isn't designed as an action packed third-person shooter, it gets a pass.

Are we talking about the same game that couldn't even keep it in its pants for F I V E fucking minutes with a crash, instant assault of monsters and a chase section that ends with you getting jumped the second you get your gun instead of building up

RE4 was the same way.

Also, Tales of Arise had a similar problem.

It's a horror game first and foremost so it doesn't really matter. Probably intentional even so people don't accidentally get filtered by difficulty which can ruin the horror.

>inb4 Longshot, Torque Bow
Sure, those ones are stronger but this beast works in literally all situations.

At least that way you get attached to it

The starting gun has the benefit of being well, the starting gun so you had a billion ammo stashed somewhere and the effectiveness kinda depended on the enemy types
>>716072957
RE4 absolutely had you use other guns depending on the situation at least, you weren't using the pistol against three shield niggas charging you or the stupid popped head ganados or stuff like the regenerators

This is only a thing in JRPGs/CRPGs/etc, where 'nunber go up' is all that matters. Can't happen in any other genre

You know, you don't have to make the player fight the exact same enemy as you did from the start if you want people to switch
Hell, even variants of basic enemies can spice things up, which DS1 has but it still doesn't matter because the said gun is so powerful

I dunno man they could've waited at least a bit more to build things up
The village encounter is extremely early in RE4 too but it wouldn't be so cool if the parts before it weren't way calmer

Dead Space 1 was piss easy because the encounters were always designed in a way to allow a good deal of time for you to register things going on and the enemy types didn't really play around the limb shooting gimmick. There should've been basic slasher variants where the limbs were in different places and angles altogether and some with some ways to block them

Its not the strongest. Its just one of the most satisfying starting weapons in any game due to how powerful and versatile it is.
