The amount of COMPLAINING and fucking WHINING from people who keep failing the bird bomb attack is unreal. Way too many people act like this is some terrible flaw that ruined the whole level for them.

Don't get me wrong. It IS fucking bullshit and I absolutely died like 3 times trying to fight the fuckers on the first playthrough. But holy shit, people bitch about that SO fucking much it's frankly ridiculous. Why the fuck do people not derive pleasure from being bad at something and improving at it?? Fighting the snowmen is fun as fuck if you're not a little baby who is allergic to self-improvement.

The early version of this game was so good it scared the shit out of Miyamoto into delaying OoT an entire year.
And no that's not a shit post.
https://www.cbr.com/banjo-kazooie-nintendo-delay-zelda-oot/
Now did it hold up well? Yes it aged fantastically. It still looks visually better than Mario 64 and the camera is advanced. The swimming and flying also give you more freedom contrary to the popular opinion of those who never learned how to maneuver the controls. Even the fucking UI animations resemble something similar to the Persona 3-5 menu screens. This game was years ahead of its time from both a visual and technical standpoint.

You're not the first person ive heard say this. Look man, I'm sorry but I cannot fucking fathom how people can't figure out that their snowballs are obviously targeting the place you WILL be if you don't change your current trajectory. You will NEVER get hit by a snowball if you just slightly change direction when you hear the sound cue of them tossing the snowball

You're weird, is what I'm saying. You're weird if you did not figure out this is how their projectiles worked within like the first 10 snowballs they throw, just from basic observation. They are clearly targeting the location you WILL be. Pay attention motherfucker c'moooon

Basically the perfect collectathon. Fun, constantly evolving moveset, distinct and memorable levels, lots to collect but not an overwhelming amount so it's satisfying and not tedious, 10/10 OST, very charming with great writing and memorable characters, levels are big and explorable but not too huge and empty like Tooie, extremely good art design that has aged like wine, etc

Really, the only flaw in the original release was the notes operating on a score system instead of being a permanent collectable, so dying in the middle of a level was very frustrating, but that was fixed with the XBLA port so it's not even an issue anymore.

Tooie does everything worse other than boss fights. Banjo-Kazooie didn't need to have its scope increased, collectathons have a fine line of turning into a chore with too much bloat, which Tooie crossed heavily.

I really don't know how people can enjoy collectathons. Just slowly wandering around pixel hunting in big empty levels, just trying to see what you missed, half the time not knowing if you're doing something wrong or just lack some stupid powerup or upgrade you need to progres. There's barely any actual platforming, combat, enemies, bosses, or anything of interest besides just hundreds of stupid collectibles scattered around, along with some lame puzzles where you have to try every contrived action you can think of to try to see what the game wants you to do to make a collectible appear.

It's even worse in Banjo because quitting or dying resets your notes to zero.

Mario 64's movement feels like ass. You turn like a boat, ricochet off walls like a bouncy ball, slope physics are nonsensical, literal invisible walls are scattered throughout levels. Not to mention you have like a dozen different jump variants when all you want is a fucking camera that is actually looking where you're going instead of shoved up Mario's asshole. Levels are so basic and boring, usually just a few platforms and enemies just haphazardly slapped down with no sense of flow or intentional design.

You are not wrong that moving around as Banjo is sub-par and could be WAY more versatile and fun. However. BK is still good cuz the levels aren't designed with any kind of advanced movement in mind. They're designed for exploration. Yeah BK is a worse platformer than Mario by a lot, but BK isn't trying to BE a platformer in the same way Mario is trying to be to begin with. It's intentionally not designed to be heavily movement-based. The joy of BK comes from other shit, not the literal platforming

nta but I like games with mysteries, like "the unknown". Some of the open world games have it, since they have zones where if you accidentally go too early, you get killed by higher level mobs. There's that thrill of trying to explore high level areas without getting killed, and also uncovering mysteries.

/int/ circa 2015. An Australian made a thread about Indian shitting streets and the jeets got all pissed off. One jeet tried to explain that there is a myth in rural India that witches live inside toilets and will bite your penis off if you use them which is why everyone shits in public so their bros can watch their backs and warm if a toilet witch approaches. The same Australian posted this and all the jeets on /int/ got insanely mad and spammed the board with child pornography all day trying to get the thread off the board.

Banjo and Kazzoie is almost like a sandbox. It's a game for kids to explore, find things, and use their imagination.
That's basically it.
The gameplay itself has some interesting moments, but 75% of the time the experience is exploring a sandbox that some English people tried to make look interesting.
Like most Western games, the "experience" comes before the gameplay. This is quite common because Westerners don't know how to make gameplay.

Banjo-Kazooie is great because it still holds up today. People will argue over how well Super Mario 64 holds up with its camera, even if they agree of its historical value and innovation, but people never call Banjo-Kazooie outdated. They'll call the subgenre a relic of the 90s and argue whether Tooie is better or worse, but there is nobody online saying "This game has really aged".

The gameplay I'm referring to is the most straightforward, pure and simple, "arcadey" thing.
Westerners are good at creating simulators, RPGs, strategy games, etc., so you can remove all of those from your gay list.
Then there are the new games that are derivative of Japanese things, which is what Westerners started doing when they finally realized that their games were terrible. You can remove from your list too (Streets of Rage 4, for example).
Finally, there are the games that fit what I'm saying: Crash, Ratchet and Clank, Littlebig Planet, etc., and guess what, they're all bad gameplay wise, and enjoyed by people with bad taste.

ledge grabs are bad gameplay, they only really 'work' in 1st person platformers. in 3rd person games where you can clearly see both the ledge and the entire character model at the same time it should be your responsibility to make sure that the two are in the correct relation. The act of transitioning to ledgegrab and wasting time when you intended to fall past the ledge, far outweighs any situation where ledgegrab 'saves' someone who shouldnt have fallen in the first place.

>Hint: they both look the same from a distance
plopped the two images into paintshop pro, blurred up the N64 version, and... I'm just not seeing it, sorry
>Plus N64 has built-in texture filter and bilinear filtering that basically puts a big vaseline smear over everything. After that, it will look similar to Xbox version.
similar, yes, but definitely not the same

don't get me wrong, I understand why the XBLA version made the change, it's not like they had access to the original CG models from 98, and concessions had to be made, but it doesn't make it any nicer to look at up close in HD man

bear in mind, (heh) I'm mostly joking, though, so it's not really a big deal at the end of the day

Pretty mediocre. There are a lot of other, better 3D platformers you could be playing instead.

Wish there was a source code leak for all of Rare's N64 stuff, would be nice to see all the stuff that didn't make it in and maybe make a PC version with higher quality assets like SM64 got.

Really not a whole lot.
>Add a bonus for collecting all 900 notes instead of 882 or whatever being the last hurdle
>Add a special transformation for collecting the 40 (41?) bonus Mumbo Tokens
>Allow cheats to be typed in instead of having to manually put them in, and add them to their own main menu section where they can be toggled, the Bottles Bonus ones don't reset every time, they carry over between files, and the Grunty debug ones don't delete your file, allowing for NG+ speedruns
>It's kind of annoying that the Boggy race is the only Jigsaw that requires backtracking
>I think the empty honeycomb down in the water of Treasure Trove Cove is poorly placed
>More bosses would be nice
>Graphics that better resembled the renders
>Stop 'n Swop actually doing something cool, maybe make Kazooie and Tooie available together and unlock stuff between them
>Brentilda's hints saved in a Memo section
>Jukebox in Banjo's house to listen to the OST
>Restored Fungi Forest
>Playable demo of Dream

It would be called Banjo-Kazooie.
It would be a like a modern day graphics and animations game, everything the same.
When you beat it you would unlock Grunty's Revenge.
It would be 3D, modern day graphics and animations, additional jiggies and another level or two.
When you beat that you would unlock Banjo-Tooie.
It would be a like a modern day graphics and animations game, everything the same.

So Banjo-Kazooie (2025?) would slowly reveal itself as a whole collection despite pitching itself as only a remake, surprising the players.

Yeah Iโ€™d lose my mind if they stealth-dropped a whole Rare Revival Collection like that. Imagine the intro cuts to black after beating BK, then just โ€œBanjo-Kazooie: Gruntyโ€™s Revenge โ€“ Rebuiltโ€ fades in and launches instantly. Thatโ€™s some prestige tier fan service. Youโ€™d have people ugly crying harder than they did watching the Spyro Reignited trailer.

Yeah, aiming sucks in Tooie, especially for that part because youโ€™re fighting both her and the camera.
