I agree anor londo is basically a corridoor, although it at least has some cool segments. Leyndell is a clusterfuck with basically nothing interesting,

i like it when my brain finds out where something loops. the shingles there is where i can tell. the torch audio loop is in des and ds1, and I think it returns in 3 as well. cant remember the torch in er if it was even in

Exactly the problem, it's a city with random roadblocks and random mob spam, meanwhile anor londo is a direct level with the most insane sequences put into a videogame. Literally entire level feels like you are breaking play area boundaries and walking on skyboxes. Absolute cinema

Have you even played ER? The torch mechanics are introduced early on as the first few caves have pitch black sections. Plus, the game has like 10 different torches, and one is required for sussing out those invisible assassins.
Sure, there's an easy to use belt lantern later on, so they're not as prominent as in DS2, but still.

Yea, i played it a few years back. I got one playthrough in it and figured it was enough. I also think I did find the lantern early on, since it was south i think in a little shack?

with leyndell you're in the actual city and you can see the walls
with anor londo you're on a tiny part of it but you can see the massive rest of the city giving you a rat in a maze feeling

Simple. You weave in and out of areas and rooms. Most of Leyndell is made up of giant rocks with a pretty exterior to make you think you're going through a city. Honestly, it's no different than an open world game.
