Nobody bothered to read the steam subscriber agreement when they signed up, eh? You never owned your games. Valvecucks unironically thought gabe was serious when he siad you'd receive physical copies of your games if valve ever went tits up. Even at the time that was unrealistic bordering on impossible.

Wrong, somewhere, on a server memory address, a bit is flipped saying that I do own the game, therefore I'm actually buying physical.

You're not wrong, but it's also trivial to pirate pretty much any game so it's not like I don't already ostensibly "own" every game in existence. Anything I do spend money on is purely to support the process of its creation and to operate with an amount of morality I deem personally acceptable.

Except with physical games they can't just suddenly stop me from playing it. And I can resell it to someone else.
It can't get taken away from me by some Australian feminist.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998)
>need physical cartridge to play it
>if the N64 breaks or is lost have to buy new N64
>if the game cartridge breaks or is lost have to buy new game cartridge
>cannot play on newer consoles, have to rebuy if they decide to re-release it

Half-Life (1998)
>register it for Steam in 2003
>don't need to keep old PC, can upgrade and still play on it
>macOS and Linux releases don't need to rebuy it for, can still use same copy
>can't be lost
>if account stolen, can be easily recovered
>can never break

Strange how much Steam feels like actual ownership compared to physical media. But dimwits think that if you can physical hold something, that somehow means you own it.

if you get banned from PSN your console is just a expensive brick, so yeah, they can totally stop you from playing it

Game servers shut down 16 months after release, making all physical copies worthless.

Also, you can be banned from playing multiplayer games for bad words. I have been banned from WoW for saying the worst word back in the day. Had to buy a new physical copy.

Also LMAO at "reselling". You couldn't trade in PC games at Electronics Boutique or Gamestop, and copies sold on eBay for basically nothing.

You are under legal obligation with Steam and can be sued. Nintendo will only sue if you give their content away for free which is illegal in all countries. See how stupid you sound anon.

If people canโ€™t maintain physical games then thatโ€™s their fault.

should have been how steam handled this

that said the processors shouldn't have any right to decide what people can or can't buy.
