Are they going to do Warlords of Draenor classic? When will they stop because I'm not sure many people really want that.

The power creep had gotten way too high by the end, there was no way to really continue without some kind of reset. They are supposedly working on a new classic project with a bigger team now.

Because Blizzard are obsessed with MAU's. They will only do seasonal Classic versions and likely never do a proper Classic+ unless the community eases into it being monetized heavily.

People can talk about OSRS but the truth is Jagex would prefer if people stuck to RS3 since even with a smaller pop the MTX make them shitloads of money and the first wave of MTX pretty much saved the company. WoW's MTX make them so much that people subbing for Classic/SOD is pennies in comparison.

tl'dr whales and classic community backlash to MTX kills a proper Classic+

Blizz has always been weird about wanting to control their playbase, from the way they play the game up to content created (ie: machinima, dota, etc). SoD was in their eyes to some extent an experiment they got bored of and didn't want to continue developing so they gave it the axe even though many people were still playing or would've been interested in further small content, QoL updates, and things for longterm replay-ability.

2019 was, and you missed out on it, was literally like vanila in 2004. Same community though, x10000 the playerbase because you had to wait 3 hours to get into the server past 18:00.

in real vanilla, servers only had 500-1000 players per faction. Thanks to streamers blizzard made "classic" support 10000+. It completely fucked core parts of the game like questing, finding mobs and the economy. It was nothing like vanilla

Not really.

None of these matters. Yes it was, cope even Kungen showed screenshots with him being in full world buffs and pots in 2004.

rofl
regardless, you can't have too many people playing vanilla. More people = more fun. Just admit you're the kind of cuck who hated the corrupted blood/naxx invasion events because it interfered with your ability to farm raid mats

Cataclysm Classic already proved they have no shame. There'll eventually be a Shadowlands Classic and you WILL play it and you WILL like it this time.

They reached the end of Vanilla content and realized that if they were to continue SoD they would need to create new content from scratch. Originally SoD was supposed to end with Naxxramas, but due to player feedback they ended up making Scarlet Enclave as well. That was already a rush job using gear sets from Tbc and the raid is just the DK starting zone from Wrath. Clearly they felt that making new content was worth the effort.
