It's the case that introduces Edgeworth and the whole channeling thing, but then they have the most retarded culprit; which is a shame because if the writers were a bit more experienced, they could have made Redd White so much more threatening and harder to catch, making Edgeworth first loss even more impactful

People seem to not like it much, but I think it's great. I like all the cases except half of one of them. The structure of the story is fine with me as well. People also have some problems with a few new characters, but they weren't a problem for me. Walking physically in the world and interacting with it visually is one of my favorite things.

However in the spirit of total honesty my point of view is that the original trilogy is a masterpiece and everything Apollo onwards is bad, so when we get to follow Edgeworth, my favorite character, before all that, it just makes me enjoy it even more. Also I think there's a lot of missed potential by the developers somewhat constricting themselves to the conventions of the series, when their context is not actually present in the game and much more could be available to expand on, if they opened their eyes.

The sequel is of course better though. Have fun.

SoJ gets a lot of slack from two very understandable camps, the "Everything after the trilogy is ass" and "I worship Takumi" but as a stand alone game it's good moment to moment with highly fun villains in every case, If I had to give it real criticism it would be the main prosecutor ends up not really working out as a character and would've been better if they didn't try to make him another edgeworth, the series insistence on repeating character tropes can be an issue at times.
