you know, normally these threads are super inane and retarded, but for once I actually agree. the vast majority of people who talk about this game haven't played it, and they just think it's so crazy that square made a shmup. it definitely gets praise from people who have never played it, or at most tried to play it, couldn't get past the first level, and quit

I owned and played it
Its decent, awesome soundtrack. But when it came to PSX shmups i always prefered Raystorm.

i actually thought this one was really cool. aesthetically it reminded me a bit of star soldier vanishing earth on n64. there are lots of shmups people shill here like ikaruga but this one is a much better game. ikaruga i found very boring past the first stage which was the best one.

One thing about this game i liked a lot was the bosses. ikaruga had really generic forgetable level design bosses and most enemies einhander was a lot better at keeping me interested in what i would see next or where i would go next.

to the guy talking about square i didnt even know it was mad eby square thats how little i care about who makes a game generally.

I was just thinking about Einhander earlier. Such a fun little game, I wish they did more horizontal space shooters like this. Neat setting too. Love how all the enemy shouts were in German

yeah the mechs were really cool i seem to remember there being a few either giant robots or some kind of super ships/ tanks. i didnt get to play this until a handful of years ago but i imagine during the 90s this was an extremely cool game.
