Because it's never about just "ignoring the threads." These people will camp every discussion, every attempt at appreciation, and barge in screaming “soulsborne overrated!!” like it’s a personality trait. All the souls games, Bloodborne, Sekiro and Elden Ring are top tier action RPGs.
They'e been dominating this board's discourse for a decade and longer. At any given time I open this site there's at the very minimum one thread up about their games and they oftentimes reach bump limit.
This only happens for good games. A truly shit game just gets ignored after a while and mabye gets a "remember this?" thread once every few months or so at best.

It's just a very high quality and succesful video game franchise, so of course some twenty something zoomers who made contrarianism their whole personality are never gonna shut up about it (while secretly playing those games just like everyone else)

It's contrarianism. A good rule of thumb is:

FromSoft has been making consistently great games for more than a decade. /v/ was one of the earliest champions of Demon's Souls, with people importing the game when it was still JP-only. With Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring bringing FromSoft into the mainstream, it's no longer socially acceptable to admit that their games are still good. They're not only bad now, they've always been bad - you just didn't realize it. And so on and so forth.

/v/ also can't differentiate between disliking something and something being "bad". A lot of people here think that things are fundamentally bad just because they dislike them. Combine this with /v/'s inherent contrarianism and its tendency toward schizophrenic thinking and you get the seething disdain for FromSoft. Everyone is just pretending these games are good. It's a conspiracy. And if it's not, they're just cattle. Etc.
