There's no profit in making outdated hardware and besides the newer dualshock controllers are much better

The ps2 controller's only flaw was the cable.

But why? It’s the worst part about coming back to ps2 titles

As sales drop, keeping the production line open has an opportunity cost. Storing a large stockpile has both warehousing costs and locks down a huge chunk of capital

Yeah, I have a PS2 controller adapter for the Xbox/GC and when I tried to use it to play THPS4 recently with it on the Xbox using a DS2 gave me erratic inputs because the adapter handled the PS2's analog face buttons poorly (like it was difficult to keep my skater crouched since it interpreted any loss of pressure as me releasing the button entirely). I ended up having to switch to a DualShock to play accurately.

It’s a pretty bad controller. The original PSX controller was a digital pad that looked the same and lacked the sticks. When Nintendo popularized analog joysticks for movement in 3D games, Sony decided to release a controller with 2 of them tacked on to the bottom like that. They barely changed the design and released a different version and the PS2 is identical but has analog buttons. It’s a shit-tier unergonomic controller that you only like because of Stockholm syndrome. The dual sense is an evolved ergonomic version that still has the objectively pure shit tacked-on stick symmetrical stick placement

a lot of them are leaking plasticizer from the sticks so even you buy one like this
>>716130267
its tough to say if it would even be worth it or not. I have a see through blue one and i have to wipe the sticks off every so often. i do agree OP that companies should do limited runs of old controllers. It seems obvious. fuck them for not doing it. but im sure somewhere along the line part of it is not wanting to support a product that competes what you are currently selling.

they could probably just sell them through their website or make a deal with gamestop or something to stock them. xbox and nintendo should also do this. its logical. its been 20 years so there is a big demand for the OEM "real" controllers since the older ones are all getting broken or lost. because there are people paying like 100.00 for games for these old consoles its idiotic to think that you would not have a bunch of people buying like 3 or 4 controllers to "stock up". they would make their money back and probably would make a decent profit also. i imagine this controllers are cheaper to make anyway than whatever a current controller is because they are less complicated and dont even have wireless functionality.

i have not bought a nintendo console since the wii which was a massive mistake. the last 10/10 thing nintendo made (arguably even 7/10) was the DS and the 3DS. i think they suck now. but if they supported their fans and made new N64 controllers i would probably support them again. just a good will gesture since they have gone full corpo the last decade+

not OP but i think a lot of it is nostalgia, i like the ps2 controller for what it is because of the time it came out and all that. aesthetically i think it looks good, i also think the xbox and the gamecube controller look good as well. im a big fan of this console generation. but i do tell people a lot that the ps2 controller isnt very ergonomic. its too small. if you hold it up to an xbox one controller you can see the ps2 controller is vertically much shorter. its just too small and cramped in general and doesnt feel good in the hand like the gamecube andxbox controllers. never the less if they made new ones i would buy a few to use with my ps2. that console has a great library but i do not want to be forced to use old controllers leaking sticky fucking shit onto my hands everytime i play.

Pressure sensitive buttons was an arrogant, but future-looking pre-clownworld misstep. Once they're worn down, the controller is trash.
