>>716130223 (OP)>why don't you cherish itSlightly gross way to think about videogame consoles. I wouldn't say I "cherish" any of them, despite definitely having favorites.
But I can understand looking at shit like the Dreamcast, Wii, etc. and wondering why the 360 isn't as well regarded.
Not sure if it was any one thing, but several small fuckups towards the end of its lifetime definitely made me think less of it
>didn't like the changes to the main UI over the console's lifespan. The current Microsoft Glass UI, or whatever it's called with the plain squares is massively inferior to the original Blades>didn't like the Xbox Avatars - especially don't like how they were forced into the main UI and shoved in your face every time you boot the console and sign in. Felt like Xbox following the Mii trend, but it was just forced and less charming. Xbox also always came across as oriented towards an older audience, with a lot of its best games being M rated, and the Avatars felt out of place on the console>in the same vein, the Kinect was kind of a massive blunder, chasing after the Wii motion control trend. Can't think of a single game I'd genuinely want to play with the Kinect over just using a controllerOn top of this the Xbox One announcement soured me on future Microsoft consoles, and retroactively tainted my perception of the 360.
the Switch 2 is frankly almost as bad to me as the Xbox One announcement. They're not implying 1984 style always-active always-online webcam surveillance with the forced Kinect integration, but the Switch 2's draconian remote shutdown shit has convinced me to avoid the console. But now the situation is even worse where there really isn't any good competition for the Switch 2. Might be an opportunity for Microsoft to compete with a new console: as in, dropping the Xbox brand entirely and making something new. Treat customers like people, respect freedom and privacy, and you'll have a leg up. Oh and have games, unlike Sony.
