The fighting game genre is an inherently binary genre. The stun based nature of it's hit mechanics makes it so your decisions are always either right or wrong. You either get to play or don't. Objectively this isn't inherently a bad thing, but most people hate the lack of control and clunkyness of that style of gameplay system. That is especially the case for a competitive game genre.

In conclusion: dead genre, waste of time.

There's a difference between a hitstun that lasts 0.5s, which allows the opponent to get two hits in on you, and a combo that lasts 10s with twenty hits. More games should have short combos and relatively higher damage on normal attacks like SoulCalibur, but the FGC hates that sort of game design because it allows players with bad execution to win more easily if they get lucky a couple of times.

What's a good gamepad for fighting games?
I have some like the Pro, Pro2, and Ult2 from 8BitDo but the Pro2 triggers died and the Pro has connection issues for its port. The Ult2 also feels really clunky to use for fighting.

Any of them. The fighting genre is the most vast and storied genre in the history of gaming. There is truly nothing else that captures the feeling of fast paced decision making and execution these games are famous for. They are incredibly rewarding even if you only put 20 hours into them.

The DS4 is still my favorite PS pad. the shape and material of the dpad makes doing motions easier. You don't get a weird diagonal by rocking left or right with the dpad like on the dualsense. The buttons are shaped and sized better for hitting multiple at one time.

No. The fact that more people are playing fighters is a net good. Really, the problem is how devs respond and try hard to chase the bag. T8's dlc practices before S2 is an example of this. I feel both SF6 and T8 were both pushed in a direction of higher offense to appeal to the more mainstream crowd that favors watching rushdown. I have nothing concrete to back this, so I'll keep that one as a tinfoil hat theory.
Like, Strive is a good fighting game. And, from a business prospective, I think ArcSys did a good job at getting more people to play GG. It has some things that I like more than older GGs, like gatlings chains being universal. But it also doesn't have my favorite version of any veteran in it. I like Strive Chipp, I'm not gonna pretend I don't miss teleport mix.
