What games are a bit like this but less faggy? I.e. with an aesthetic closer to something like Kingdom: 2 crowns but with the gameplay depth of pic related. Been thinking about buying Timberborn to scratch the itch but its a bit pricey and it seems fairly shallow.

Just play the original Harvest Moon games. Or Rune Factory. That's the niche that Stardew Valley came along and filled.
