BF4 system objectively fucking sucks and I implore you to try open system instead.

This will create support being ignored by vast majority of the players because they would rather choose their own fun than teamplay. Support not only has med packs but also ammo packs in BF6. They are the most important class but no one will use them since people can't use their favorite ARs or SMGs.
SMGs also gets shafted because no one will want to play as a class dedicated to vehicle killing in modes designed for infantry killing. SMGs will become entirely useless as a weapon class, people will use carbines while they are playing as engineer or they will use assault while they are playing in CQC maps.

If you want to get another run of AEK/ACE23, Assault meta with next to no variety in gameplay then go ahead, play locked weapons, but if you want more variety in your games try unlocked weapons.

They already tested open vs close weapons in the internal tests. Majority of the people didn't liked closed weapons, that's why they were open. Everyone played as assault with ARs just like BF4 and unlike BF4 assault isn't medic, assault is kill farmer class it literally was ''COD'', people were running around with ARs instead of dropping ammo/health boxes and destroying vehicles. Open system allows people to use whatever class they want without being forced to use worse guns. When beta comes out all those BF4 glazers will get a taste of how open and restrictive BF4 system is and they will go back to unlocked classes anyways. If you are allowing an assault to use an AR and a carbine might as well give them an SMG, at least SMGs will be used in infantry maps once again instead of being forced to use a vehicle class for them.

It wasn't that expensive in my country and a friend owed me the equivalent of 10 dollars so I bought it, but I never thought it would be worse than I thought, I asked for a refund and everything, and I saw that it took around 3 years to have half decent functionality and fix things
Not having scoreboard and direct voice chat was one of the most stupid things they did and that could be taken with a big red flag
I won't trust them again, plus it will cost $70 so I'll pass, I'll wait for it to be at $10 a year or two like I did with the other Battlefields I bought in the past

It's on the way. After the initial trailer and gameplay garnered far more attention than expected, the devs bumped up the scope of their work. The gameplay demo you can find on youtube is apparently completely out of date now, thanks to the sheer amount of upgrades they're doing. They're expecting to have it ready to go next year.

Basically what it means is that the reload animation has a number of split points in it that make it so that if the animation is interrupted for whatever reason (weapon swap, going prone, dying and then being revived, etc.) then it will pick up where you left off, rather than having to go through the entire thing again. Believe me, it is SO fucking helpful.

Nothing new, weapon categories in BF are sorted by their statistics rather than IRL.
SCAR-H in BF3 was a carbine but in BF4 it's an AR, HK417 in BF3 was a DMR and the G3 was an AR in that game as well.
