I have sunk like 2.5k hours into this dumbass game, and likely a good 400 more into Basement Renovator.

Modded Isaac is fun, but I physically couldn't play vanilla anymore. Nicalis also makes some of the most weird ass changes with these REP+ updates.

Hype for Mewgenics at least.

Not even close.

It's somehow still the best roguelite in existence cause it actually has fun weapon synergies.
I expected all the roguelites after to take the synergy idea and run with it, but none really have.
The four-directional shooting is a huge point in its favor too. You'd think that 360 analog shooting would feel better but it doesn't. 4-direction changes the room/enemy design and makes it feel way more intentional and unique.

yeah it's insane how much depth even the original flash game has with how quickly it was made, especially when you compare it to games that have come after, had much longer dev times, bigger teams and much more funding. Games like Hades are shallow puddles in comparison.
It's disappointing there hasn't been another roguelite that scratches the Isaac itch or fixes its flaws after all this time.

Bethany does suck in unlucky runs where you get 0 actives but the second she gets one she insta-wins and doesn't even get hit anymore because she has an entire army of wisps blocking enemy shots.

If you are getting hit so often that the dies-in-two-hits character who can't even abuse how broken red health is better in your eyes then you might be doing something very wrong.

Check out Nova Drift. It's an arcade shooter rogue game that has tons of synergies and builds with your ships. Very fuck space shooter, great music, visuals, and slick gameplay.

Another good one with different builds/weapon synergies is Genome Guardian, but it's like a tower defense game.

Another similar to Binding of Isaac that never got a lot of love but is really neat aesthetically and overall has good gameplay is Our Darker Purpose. Really wish it got more added to it.

Conjoined is good but you already have a ton of tears with quad shot + 20/20 to proc fire mind and the slow tears
I would use the altar, 2 demon items can be pretty strong(the altar pool is also pretty decent with few duds, plus you are 2/3 guppy and guppy > conjoined) and your familiars are pretty whatever
You can also either reroll them in the curse room(it's pretty much a discount devil room in terms of items, but with also only a few bad items, and you can highroll guppy) or spawn the items on the secret room and reroll them for secret room items(only do this if you have unlocked busted secret room items like the tainted isaac ones and similar, the base secret room pool has a lot of bad items)

R Key is better, the run is already so deep in that rerolls are less important.
R Key is basically free extra completion marks(except Hush/Boss rush), plus if the run goes to shit you can just use it and stomp the early floor again.

The only downside is that you may not feel like playing a second run.

God is gone, retreated from his creation out of shame because he thinks he failed everyone including himself and cannot face it his failure. He realized he was acting out of anger and spite by the end and that is when he left...kinda like how Moot left us.

In his place he left a council of overzealous angels interpreting his will since they don't get him.
Minos, the former judge of hell, started to lax punishment on the layer of lust and decided to rehabilitate the sinners rather than just punish them all for eternity so he took the gooners and the harlots and made something out of them...the council did not approve of his actions as they believed it was against their interpretation of the will of God and destroyed him and his work. Gabriel killed him where he stood without so much hearing a full sentence out of him.

Sisyphus on the other hand, did successfully carry a rebellion in the absence of a proper caretaker but the moment Gabriel took the role of minos, he ended his insurrection.

As for V1, he is a product merely cartographic the layers of hell as an army of robots is consuming hell behind his wake.
The remixed versions seem to be the consequences of his actions, basically what happened next.
Hell froze over and Limbo is broken, not longer a safe haven for the non-baptized or people underserving of hell's wrath but not welcomed in heaven either (US...for the most part).

Genesis does pretty much have that effect, it's like retroactively making your character tainted isaac but with 3 items per pedestal and no item limit.
And yeah, the red room nerf is kind of sad, my favorite run I ever had was with Bethany + Red Key.
At least the average ultra secret room item is still pretty strong since it has a lot of devil room items, the angel hearts, c section, D6 and more
