Retards got mindbroken by a 10s clip whose purpose was to demonstrate real-time weapon switching in the most feasible way within that timeframe. That's literally it.

Yeah but that’s always the case, isn’t it? Every time someone says “this is the one,” we end up with something that either chugs harder than a launch-day PS3 or gets patched into playability six months later. That said, Platinum handling Ninja Gaiden is at least a glimmer of hope. If they bring back that tight NGB pacing with the flashiness of W101 or Bayo 2, we might actually witness the second coming of stylish expressivity. Copium levels rising, bros.

As a ninja gaiden newbie who just played through 1-3 then yaiba, I've gotta say, yaiba is my favorite. It's certainly a different tone from the other games, and very different gameplay, but I think that's why I liked it. Easier to "pick up" than the mainline games.
It's pretty short, and the fixed camera awful, but everything else is great.
It doesn't take itself too seriously. It knows what it is & embraces it.
Definitely grab it if you can get it on sale.

yeah, what are they nig, they're not a seperate weapon, it deals very little damage, the amount of extra air time you get using them is good but it's not a ton, like maybe half a second of extra time when thrown in the air and if you use them on the ground to juggle an opponent then that's useless too and just for swag but at least it takes some timing skill to do as opposed to the dumb floatiness seen in the ng4 preview that I guarantee is just xxxx swap xxxx swap xxxx

They added real-time weapon switching because having a clunky ass menu that pauses action and wastes the entire dpad to achieve the same thing you can do by pressing start just doesn't cut it in the big 2025. Extending your air-time is just a natural effect of that and how it would be in older NG games too if they were made today. The only times NG wouldn't benefit from weapon switching is when you couldn't switch at all, like in S2 and 3RE trials.
The series has been expanding on air options and air time with each entry and re-release, Sigma 1 allowed you to use the bow mid-air, NG II added shitton of air combos for each weapon, S2 let you carry the bow and the shuriken at the same time and use one after the other and then follow up with a downwards stab for even more air time, plus it added Momiji and gave her a double jump, in-air UT and other moves along with the bow, 3RE iterated on all the aforementioned additions while giving more utility and abilities to the bow. NG 4 takes it to another level and turns air into another battleground with even the most basic enemies being able to reach crazy highs, tengus flying around, armadillos coming back and becoming normal enemies, the temu Urizens and DDO ogres being huge enough to not give a fuck about high you are, this is all on top legacy enemy types like rocket launcher guys.
