Should Namco Bandai just say screw it with 8 and try again with Tekken 9 already?

This was tekken's attempt to get a wider audience by simplifying the game and giving noobs a chance. They thought that people would be receptive to easier gameplay but what they missed is that the normalfaggot audience they were interested in has no time to lab nor any interest.

There just never was any interest from a new audience, that audience didn't exist, so all they managed to do is royally piss off their only audience, almost killing the IP in the process. Very few games can spit between the eyes of their audience and live to tell the tale. If they have any idea how close they were to blowing it all up, right now they have their best code monkeys and gameplay vets working day and night fine tuning everything to the way previous installments played.

They have a real chance to sell 10 million if they release SoulCalibur VII on the Switch 2 with Link as a playable character. There's no Smash Bros for the foreseable future leaving Switch owners without a fighting game

>make tekken tag tournament 2 a love letter to the fans of the series, hardcore fans enjoy but had abysmal sales
>make tekken 8 for normies and for new people to get into, good sales but hated by the community
feels like they cant win

What good would it do? Murray's still around and the current top brass are still total fucking monkeys. Let the wound fester and really drive home the lesson, force them to actually clean and patch it up correct. Even if the series dies outright, it'd still be productive as an example for every other dev team.

if tag 2 had an online that just works like t7 instead of the absolutely autistic multi layer menu worldwide tekken clan war bullshit that game actually had it would have sold way more. if tag 2 was on pc it would've sold way more. if tag 2 had a bunch of advertising about how it has the finale of the tekken story instead of advertising about how snoop dog is dlc it would've sold way more.

tekken 7's sales have very little to do with its actual gameplay vs tag 2. correlation is not causation and the majority of its sales are wifi law players doing strings and people who mess with single player and don't really know or care that they made sidestepping worse
