each time you launch a game Windows open dozens of services, including sending data to NGOs and wasting CPU cycles + bandwidth

Windows has been spying on users since at least Windows 8, nobody who uses it expects not to be spied on
Not my problem, I use Debian.

>>716163109 (OP)>biggest fed-pushed piece of software made literally free for the sole purpose of amassing market share>is spying on peoplePaint me fucking shocked, am I right? microcucks even pushed telemetry to Windows 7 back in the day.
If you use ANY piece of software from FAGMAN companies you're literally being spied on. Deal with it.
p.s. you should see what your phone does and connects to. You're gonna have a fun time
>>716163109 (OP)Maybe you shouldn't be playing tranime pedo games then
doesn't affect me I don't play video games
yup. Remember the 'compatability' assistant for win7 to help you 'upgrade' to win 10? that scanned every exe and dll on your HD and put it in an xml file which was uploaded to microsoft. They know everything you do. You think epstein had leverage? that's nothing compared to the info microsoft collects and shares with US intelligence services

That's something that has always bothered me about limited data plans. Lets say you want to pay for like, 2 GB or something for a month and then MicroGoogle smear their dick all over your data for their bullshit and you don't get what you paid for.
Unless they pay the end user for that shit, knock it the fuck off through law or otherwise.

Some ISPs in the US do have data caps though, which is a limit of how much you can download per month before you get charged additional fees for going over your cap. Comcast was the most notorious for doing this, and they are one of the big two ISPs that have regional monopolies on a lot of places.
Data caps are completely bullshit and were implemented by them as rent-seeking behavior and for no other reason, and now that many states are rolling out municipal fiber internet service to compete with them, Comcast mysteriously is getting rid of data caps (since city-run fiber never has any) despite not doing any infrastructure upgrades since they were implemented.
>>716165965>Windows 10 was notorious for its shady ass "telemetry" features that you had to battle with the OS to disableYou can't even really disable those because windows update will periodically enable them again behind your back. It's such fucking cancer.

I do care, but I feel powerless when the company I work for relies on Windows and Google products. I'm employed by a $30 billion company that uses Microsoft for everything. At this point, my data is long gone.
I never worked at a company that doesn't use MS, Google, or Apple products, all of which have the same spyware.
>>716177378>If everyone did XThe problem is, everyone won't. That's why "If everyone just..." is never anything more than a fleeting hope.
>>716178173My point is that change comes from a lot of people making small decisions and encouraging the people around them to make the same decision. Despite corporation's attempts, the trend is pointing towards more people taking privacy seriously. If you put effort in now, you can make the shift happen sooner.
>>716175069There are ARM devices with standardized boot, and even within the AMD64 space there is proprietary hardware that is difficult for Linux based OSes to support. It is still the status quo however that a lot of ARM Linux devices get pretty poor support from their vendor for installing anything other than the distribution they pre-install, and don't have upstream drivers.
Probably not likely to change any time soon. Only a tiny percentage of the population care about open standardized open boot loaders to make sure an OS can be replaced, or open source drivers to ensure the OS can run properly.
>>716172593should I just go for LTSC? I know basic computer stuff and I'm pretty sure I'd be able to figure these things out by searching on the internet but fuck, I really don't want to have to tinker settings for every game.
>>716178505I've been putting the effort in since internet privacy became a concern, people won't make changes until something forces them too, there have already been more dangerous data breaches in the last few years than in most of online history combined before that. >>716173309I really don't want to upgrade to 11. That's just more resources my PC is going to have to need to run on by default. When I made the jump from 7 to 10, I could tell a difference in performance.

>>716178830>When I made the jump from 7 to 10, I could tell a difference in performance.Same, got way better performance on 10. Booted faster, used less RAM, actually took advantage of the 8 threads of my CPU, better FPS in pretty much all games.
Then they inevitably fucked it up with the constant updates. Downgraded to 8.1 which had all the improvements and none of the drawbacks. I still use 8.1 to this day.
>>716178723Even the long-term support version of Windows is really only setup to run disconnected devices or information kiosks. >>716179383>it really only buys a couple more years before software starts to drop supportWindows 7 lost support from Microsoft 5 years ago and Firefox still supports it. "turn off telemetry" is a vague statement though.... Windows 10 have so many services that does nothing that spying on you, and even if you find a way to disable them (and their surrogate recovery services (the whole fucking OS is acting like a malware lol)) they will just "fix" your change in the next update, that same update you will be forced to install because most developers nowadays are too lazy to check their dependencies cycle, making their software/games not boot if you are 2 years behind in updates.
It's not only micro$hit that fucked up the entire PC industry, it's also the laziness of the users and developers that let this entire shit show grew so big.

>>716187902There's a massive difference between a potential backdoor in silicon that's never used and a company just logging everything you do. It's not even a privacy thing but also security, recall was already seen capturing passwords by accident and stored in a way that is trivial to recover.
You have to understand it's not a thing anyone would blow on some random uninteresting person. Whatever packets it'd be sending would be visible, instructions inside need to be specific and if you think they would be remote, the system must accept inbound traffic. If you block inbound traffic on an external device, it won't work.
There's also the thing that's ME is used in enterprise and is reasonably well documented. It has legitimate uses beyond being an alleged backdoor.
You have dozens of blackbox firmware blobs in the system and all the hardware you're using that you implicitly trust. There's also been reports of backdoored hardware with malware flashed onto the firmware after they've left the factory by criminals.
ME histeria borders on paranoia while recall is a legitimate issue. Middle of the road you have supply chain attacks but these mainly target enterprise. There were instances of consumer electronics being attacked but they're usually not sophisticated like rootkits because that is expensive and difficult to do but basic shit like malware preinstalled on a Windows partition.
Even if ME is a backdoor, it's very low on the list of things to worry about. I usually only see it mentioned just to spread FUD to discourage people from switching to Loonix etc and by schizos.

>>716193780What's wrong with that?
Do you go to the restaurant and pick the dish in the biggest rainbow font, or do you consult the menu fully?
I read the menu in full, and decide what sounds nice, and also make a value assessment based on the price of the dish vs its components. I'm not paying $20 for a salad when a double stack burger is $12, for example. If a store has a higher than usual price for a Monster, I'll buy a "lesser" drink that's cheaper, because I know what the price of a Monster should be. And if Monster changed, I would shop for something else. Don't become a slave to brands.
>>716193680Well yes, I don't buy based on what's on the box. If a GPU maker came along tomorrow that raped the shit out of AMD and NVIDIA for less money, I'd probably buy that instead. I don't give a shit about what's on the box, it could be 2 monkeys fucking a football for all I care.
>>716193996>Which store did you choose?Whichever is in the area. I don't shop at one store.

Under DSR you can return a product within 14 days if you have not had an opportunity to view or handle the product in person.

>>716194375Reviews can be bought, spec sheets can be misleading, trust pilot is not immune, and consumer feedback is not guaranteed.
Also, I don't think you've ever actually filed a warranty claim. I have. I've spent several months waiting for a warranty to actually go through and that was after an extensive troubleshooting process. All the meanwhile I actually need a product to function properly or risk additional inconveniences or even costly damages.
Finally, plant obsolescence is a thing. You can absolutely be sold a product that will work good enough for about a year and then shit the bed, only to find out that there was potentially a better product, but it was buried in reviews for mediocre slop.

> I've spent several months waiting for a warranty to actually go through....
Well, over here, you have to sort it in a "reasonable time", which is usually less than 28 days. If they don't, you can then look at legal options.
> plant obsolescence is a thingI don't own any plants, plants tend to die anyway as they're living things.
>You can absolutely be sold a product that will work good enough for about a year and then shit the bed...In the UK, consumers have legal rights to claim for faulty goods for up to six years from the date of purchase. This is not a warranty provided by the manufacturer or retailer, but a statutory right under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If it's a product that would be reasonably expected to last longer than the warranty period, you can claim.

>>716194989Oh, so you're actually underage? Well, just so you know, when you have dependence, it's usually a good idea to have life insurance. You're effectively taking on a gamble that could save your family's future if something were to go wrong.
When you do sign up for life insurance, there are these people called actuaries and underwriters. Part of their job is understanding and mitigating risk for the company. They need to look at you and guess when you might die.
If you don't believe me, I think New York Life has a survey you can take online without any commitment. They will ask about your hobbies, and if your hobbies are potentially dangerous, they could ask for an insane premium as a result.
If you think this is unique to just life insurance and want to consider a scam, how about mandatory car insurance? What if all state found out that you played a lot of racing games? And based off of their data, found that most people that play racing games are aggressive drivers, thus justifying in their eyes the rise in their prices?
>>716195179You've made a list of things all covered by consumer protection law, and you think this is a gotcha? Once again supports my claim that it's either just your usual invasive telemetry from MS that's nothing to do with you launching a game, or even worse he's running some shit off-screen to farm retards for content.
tl;dr the video is way too vague to prove OP's claim.

>>716196943>you could still be sold a dehumidifier that falls apart in just a few months and it would be entirely legal in your country.Errrr, no?
CRA 2015, covers for 6 years from date of purchase, goods must last a "reasonable" time, which in law is up to 6 years from purchase (unless the nature of the product is to be consumed sooner, such as food from a supermarket or a product that states it's a 6 month supply of something)
>>716197236>Do hardware specs really matter for a phone? They do up to a point, some Mediatek shitters that you can buy for $250 run like absolute ass.
>>716197236>Does hard-Yes, yes they do and not just because you want a "faster" device but you also want a device that you can use for longer than 6 hours before being forced to charge it again.
You see, the problem with the Pixel phones isn't that they aren't "fast", they are fast enough for almost all but the heaviest workloads, it's that compatibility with most stuff is ASS along with their modems and the processor itself being energy hogs.
Their modems are notoriously finicky and energy hungry to the point where even normies that are even a little connected to the tech world knows about it, it draws 3x as much energy as other similar modems does which means that as soon as you connect to a 5G network, your batterylife almost gets cut BY A THIRD if any data is sent or received.
Their processor is also using the cheapest "mid-end" GPU (Mali) they could get their hands on which lacks a lot of modern API support, like it only "partially" supports Vulkan and full OpenGL along with running hot from their "Prime Core" being overtuned and not having enough thermal mass to cool itself efficiently with.

You need to exercise the demon, rebuke it, banish it. You may think you're done; but you still must pray. The tools are there for you to not be farmed for tokens like a plant v zombie, you just are required to flush the flouride from your brain enough to feel free of apathy enough to feel the drive and need to just do something about it. If you are concerned about specifically the NSA and Israel, you can't use a computer. Even if you bought it with perfect opsec, the second you connect to the internet they can narrow it down based on the lengths of your scrolls, the microscopic stutters in your movements, the curvature your fingers naturally move in when moving in what you think is a straight line, and attribute it to you. Nothing we can do to prevent this, I'm not sure if even mechahitler could do it.

>>716210696https://www.kaspersky.com/blog/how-to-disable-copilot-recall-spyware/51522/
Recall/Copilot holds onto everything.
Microsoft wants to push everything through their Ai slop and make it part of your everyday life no matter if its just searching for something on your PC, searching for something on the internet, video and music and the likes.
Which of course also means that this whole thing is an extreme security risk. You suddenly have one central point which - if compromised - allows the attacker to gain access to pretty much your entire system.
https://www.techtarget.com/searchenterpriseai/feature/Privacy-and-security-risks-surrounding-Microsoft-Recall
>Recall stores snapshots of user activity in a SQLite database, which is not encrypted. This lack of encryption makes the data susceptible to malware attacks and unauthorized access, especially if an external party gains physical access to the device
>>716210916i guess trying to make windows 7 work in this modern age is interesting as a hobby project.
but make no mistake, it's not something you could reasonably use to daily drive.
and honestly, if you like fiddling with shit until it works, use linux, that's what the entire community is about.
>>716211101>it's not something you could reasonably use to daily drive.Well, it is still my main OS right now (I do have a secondary build and a dual boot partition to W10 for some very specific tools), and combined with geforce now, I don't have much issue to play the game I want.
But I do plan to switch to Linux soon, I absolutely hate W10 and even more W11, it's not only about privacy and security, it's also about the entire philosophy of those OS which try to so hard to take the control of your computer away from you, which is unacceptable.
Linux is already at like 6% marketshare in the EN speaking world aka. the only relevant one and modern SteamOS ain't even officially out yet. Can see the population doubling again with Windows 10 support ending and everyone absolutely hating on 11 if Valve can react on time.
The two big reason that stopped people from using Linux were the lack of pre-installed machines and easy updates. Both of which get solved by Valve now that they are working with third parties to ship various SteamOS powered devices - potentially PC-prebuilds as well. And the Steamdeck updates as easy as people would expect from a professional OS so once we got that available on every platform with games and everything just working out of the box there is no reason not to switch.
