The biggest travesty of Battle for Azeroth was how the faction war ended.
It ended up playing out exactly like in MoP--the Alliance and the Horde rebels overthrow the previous Horde tyrant, and the Alliance... uh, just leaves. I could understand the Alliance not dismantling the Horde the first time, but the second time? After the same exact thing happened?
I say this as a Horde player that it would not only have been more believable, but also more INTERESTING if after the Fourth War the Alliance disarmed the Horde, occupied Orgrimmar and put it under martial law. The Alliance would have quests in Orgrimmar to assist with the occupation, and the Horde would have quests to try to undermine the occupation and to secretly re-arm.
But because WoW is an MMO, every single faction war has to be 50/50 equal and NOTHING EVER HAPPENS. The war ended and we went back to the same exact status quo. Except now the faction leaders have gay sex with each other, I guess.

I don't know how anyone could continue playing this after Wrath of the Lich King. I never made it past level 15 in Vanilla, but the whole aesthetic and feel of the game changed with Cataclysm. Too much metaplot.

It's borderline impossible to write good stories where everyone wins all the time, and everyone is a good guy that keeps saving the world, and no one ever does anything that could upset the status quo.

"For the Horde" is a boomer meme. It's just really insane writing they did. They turned the Horde evil in MoP... and then did it again six years later with BFA. Only instead of just wanting to kill the Alliance, Sylvanas' specific goal was to kill EVERYONE. Every neutral faction should have stopped being neutral, and just come in and dismantled the Horde.

After Sylvanas burned Teldrassil (what the fuck were they thinking with this lmao) the Horde question should’ve been answered once and for all. They literally can’t be trusted to not chimp out and be destructive.
Honestly though if you still care about wow lore after Wrath then you either are underaged or very stupid
No factions are ever truly humbled, changed, or allowed to evolve meaningfully.
