Raidou 2 is still really janky by modern standards, so paying full price for a single PS2 game that's been "updated" to have the gameplay mechanics of another PS2 game didn't excite me much. And when I'm already teetering on the fence, finding out that some of the demons were censored may not be a huge issue on its own, but it's enough to shove me off the fence over to the wrong side.

Remaster the Digital Devil Saga games and we'll talk (assuming you don't fuck it up).

Why isn't there an SMT and SMT2 remake yet? Or Persona 1 and 2 remakes? Not even an HD release of the latter?
It's awkward that SMT and Persona from 3 onwards are all on modern systems and have multiple remakes and remasters but the first two entries are stuck on SNES and PS1 respectively. In that time Fatlus remade Persons 3 twice lol

I enjoyed it though. I liked the early‑20th century Japan aesthetic. I liked the story. I liked using the demons to advance the story/quests. I'll buy the 2nd one if it gets remastered too.

Not a single moment in V was as impactful or disturbing as reverse hills or any of the shit you see in the other mainline games. Fixed the gameplay and made it leagues better but everything else felt like it was phoned in at best and a retarded design decision at worst. I'd still recommend playing it if you're a normie who doesn't want to experience the slog of the way the original plays or just want a new-ish Raidou experience, but maybe wait for a sale or get it secondhand. Or pirate it, idk I'm not your grandma do what you want.

The main reason is far less complicated than what everyone will tell you. Atlus is justt reusing models and lazily applying new textures on them, IF they even do that part. They're just using the most recent models. It sucks, but that's just how it is. It's why Soul Hackers and SMTV, aside from the new Doi exclusive Demons, was basically just reusing 90% of P5's persona roster. They were just porting over those models and doing some small changes to their polygons and painting them new textures.

And before any faggot argues this isn't true. It's been confirmed in interviews for past games already, P5 --> SMTV and SH2 included.

There's new case files, yes. One of them is a reference to Raidou 2 that feels like a pretty obvious tease for that to get a remaster and the others that I remember are a short Hayataro sidequest and a little scavenger hunt for mahjong tiles to play a mahjong minigame with Narumi and/or some demons of your choice. As for story stuff its mainly the same but there's rewrites here and there that are pretty controversial but otherwise don't seem to affect the story all that much, at least not from what I could tell. Biggest one I see complaints about is the cursed Navy admiral getting changed to some random god that isn't even in danger of dying from the curse that Raidou has to take on for him to get rid of it. Even I have to say its stupid, but I guess the original implied that it was the Emperor which I guess is a problem by today's standards. I feel like a lot of censorship like that and the removal of those flags is because of concerns over the Chinese and Korean markets.

The ps1 versions of smt 1/2 (haven't tried if...) are the only perfect remakes. the only key staff member missing from development is Ryūtarō Itō (one of the writers) and you can see how much of a difference that makes compared to newer atlus remakes.
new atlus dev teams are so wildly different that they function the same as an outsourced onces. the only key staff member returning for raidou is the director.
