it's an incredibly forced opinion from the XIV fanatics that are DESPERATE for people to stop quitting their game en masse, otherwise they'll have no one left to ERP with.

what they don't realize is the story isn't the real problem, the story being bad was just a big wake up call to the rest of the playerbase that apart from the very little raiding the game has to offer, the game has nothing good to offer and they were just being emotionally manipulated into putting up with a terrible gameplay loop.

yoshi p is a total hack and has no idea how to make games fun, and it has nothing to do with engine. look at ff16. terrible gearing, terrible side quests, really interesting story that peaks within the first hour of gameplay then kind of flatlines over its entire runtime (apart from some really cool moments like titan and bahamut). same thing in xiv. terrible gearing that is timegated to fuck. relics that are dogshit until the final patch where it doesn't matter anymore. fate grinds upon masked fate grinds as infinite content. the game sucks!
