Not if you have pc (due to access of VR mods). But for single player the best stuff is pcvr mods (primarily UEVR) for all unreal 4 and up games. And for standalone stick to multiplayer pvp. Everything is usually broken or underwhelming. But those 2 categories alone make current console gen feel 2 gens old.

I only ever see VR when a show or other media is trying to satirize it, insinuating it's a mass adopted technology worthy of parody. It's a cynical attempt at marketing. The tech died before it could ever take off because companies like Meta got their hands on it.

I'm gonna repeat what the first post said. I'm using it for UEVR nowadays, and that's mainly because i have a high end graphics card that can handle both that and a decent high resolution headset for gaming, your experience is also highly dependent on your investment. Ironically buying the cheapo shit is a waste of time because it results in a negative experience that is painful to look at. The actual specific games development part of it is stuck in a rut and i hope it can eventually get out of it. But for PCVR the options are kind of endless right now. Why is the game development slow? i usually blame Meta's interference in everything, they don't know how to run a gaming department properly.

Also outside of the Luke Ross mods, you can actually get away with 80-90% of vr mods with even just a 1080. Granted you will be using low video settings but if you haven't spoiled yourself to much yet you shouldn't notice to much.

Untill all jews are removed, it's glasses and gloves, or full body simulation it's ignorable.

Good for arcades and their dedicated moving cockpits, motorbikes etc. But laying back playing games moving your head isn't a good requirement. Maybe help for controls though, not move head much to turn.

Would be great to watch movies with 2D to 3D conversion if FOV wasn't small.

Students got a hold of it and invalidated it.

As always: Kill anyone that has attended university.

Huh. What's the problem? Imo i don't even like using the movie theatre environments to watch 3d conversions, the 3d seems much more pronounced on the widescreen TV environment imo. I don't think I had that opinion for official 3d but I hardly remember official 3d. Has been a few years

I think I've heard of something in the works that should artificially increase the pop out, not really part of existing models, like an after process but I'll believe it when I see it (and if my pc can even handle it cause I'd imagine it probably requires inpainting)

Bigscreen VR is a free app that lets you host rooms where people play movies, often with some 3d effect added on.
It's really nice - the FoV isn't too bad on a Quest 3

I still haven't fixed my VR setup because I need a 3.5mm cable and I'm too lazy to buy it.

Unless there are massive changes in the industry, yes.
If you choose to go route A, and make it a console, Nintendo style, you need to drop a huge bundle on a catalogue of Triple A titles to support it, and a dedicated hardware tower high latency connectivity, because the current era of bulky headsets that play mobile games isn't good enough.
If you want to go route B and continue with the current model, you need to MASSIVELY decrease the price so it's a genuine periphereal like a controller.

Right now the medium simply needs more of what Boneworks was doing. We've had few releases like that since, the latest being Into the Darkness that is so rough that i cannot recommend it. For some reason developers think floating hands should be the norm instead of VRIK player avatars coupled with robust physics engines to give everything purpose and weight. That is also why some people bring up VR feeling gimmicky, because we're not still pursuing that kind of thing that was established a few years ago. Unfortunately that idea might go down as tech demoy instead of norm. What should be norm is that the motion controls correspond with imposed limits for a sense of realism, i wouldn't say it ever feels like you're 'wagglan' in that game. It's not perfect either, just a good building block for how i see VR games should be modeled off.

Honestly it's a miracle he even lived as long as he did considering the sheer amount of drugs he must have imbibed throughout his lifetime.
Shame I never got to see him live, the final concert's tickets sold out pretty much instantly.

My experience with VR
>Get an original oculus from a family friend who had it as a test kit
>This is really cool
>Decide to try out Steam VR
>It's annoying to set up, each time, and my office doesn't have a lot of space
>It's really cool
But
>Not cool enough to outweigh the annoyance of turning it on and fixing up the room, and not cool enough to permanently reconfigure the room and desktop
>Meta arrives
>Now just using the occulass is extremely annoying and the complete lack of content makes it not worth the effort
>Eventually get some games on PC I would like to play (7th Guest)
>Find meta has bricked the headset
>Now a paperweight
And I can't say there is anything at all drawing my interest in getting back into it.

Unlike the first wave of VR, where the ambition completely outstripped the potential, this has been the reverse. The technology has the potential and ability to make many awesome things, but the industry has zero ambition for it and there is nothing there worth the cost, unless you are into niche uses, like driving/flight sims. Same goes for the porn aspect of it. It could make incredible porn. Instead it's just shoddy POV crap with chicks fucking a stationary cock on a couch.
