Playstation 1, 2 & 3 has an endless catalogue of games I can play on repeat and never get bored (currently playing bully + simpsons hit and run). 4 is when there wasn't really all that much difference between consoles because any game on xbox 1 I could get on ps4 and vice versa. The difference between Nintendo and Sony is that the former can make their current exclusives run on the OG switch but they choose not to because of piracy concerns and wanting to sell the overpriced successor.
Meanwhile the former isn't afraid of piracy on PS4 and PC ports so they can afford to put them everywhere while pushing the graphical boundary each time.
Nintendo is so reliant on the illusion of exclusivity that they have to artificially create it while Sony doesn't really need it and relies on giving users the best price to performance.
