There will be one next week: https://nintendoeverything.com/ys-x-proud-nordics-will-support-120fps-on-nintendo-switch-2-with-new-mode/

Prime 4 will have it too and Fast Fusion may add it in a patch.

nintendo has decades of brand awareness over steam, is already known for making video game consoles though. Steam is only well known amongst PC gamers which is a minority. If nintendo sold less switches than the steam deck then the company would literally be on its way out

Just because the PS2 outsold the Gamecube doesn't mean the Gamecube is a bad console. Same goes for the DS and the PSP.

Yeah, but that 2d indie slop also looks and feels better at 120fps.
If can use it, use it.

But the fact that the screen is only fast enough to display 30hz is another discussion

The worst part about this is that it can't even display 8K properly. 32Gbps and no DSC so the absolute maximum is 8K at 30Hz, not the 60Hz required by NTSC standards. There's not even a "well technically it could" gotcha, it's just a lie

I'd be fine with the 72fps, I know everyone's different but it's smooth enough for me when it works, but almost every game runs like shit and the video is choppy/stutters. If you look at a wall and move side to side you can see the wall jumping around because of hitching or refresh rate mismatch or whatever the fuck it is. It's bad enough when devs don't give a shit about this in flat screen games but in VR it's so much more noticeable and worse.

It was used to distract from how shit the screen actually is. And it worked, you have fags running around saying 120 like it means anything other than shorter battery life.

7/23/2025, 12:36:51 PM No.716213017
Why would you ever want 120 to be the baseline? 60 fps is the sweet spot. If you target 120 then you have to make your game look worse than it would at a completely fine 60fps.

God I love how rent free the deck is. It's just proof that despite you people trying to pretend you care so much about sales as some be all end all metric of quality that deep down you know the deck is by far and away the better system. Doesn't help that throughout the switch's lifespan you were making the exact kind of arguments against the ps5 that you're now trying to make in favor of the switch 2.

the original 'eck could already change its refresh rate to anything from 40-60hz. the 90hz screen purely benefits low end games where you can get above 60fps.

Better 45fps support, which is what a lot of the heavy hitting modern games clock out around. Plus, you don't have to run it at 90, you have full control over your deck's settings.

Switch 2 does not support variable refresh rate.
You need a 120 hz display to be able to play Cyberpunk at 40 fps mode ob the switch 2.
Its also why DK Bananza drops to 30 fps any time it cant maintain 60 instead of just doping to like 55 or something.
