It restarted development and changed hands at least once. We know Bandai Namco was working on it at the beginning of the Switch's life but Nintendo was so displeased with what they were doing that they gave it to Retro, who really should have been working on it from the start.

honestly played prime 1 remastered for the first time last month

the start is very slow, the backtracking sucks
it does rev up, but the format felt very dated considering the two decades of streamlined fps slop we've had, and the lockon shooting

i dont expect MP4 to be bad, but i do expect it to be a sort of archaic "nintendo" version of an fps, built around more rigid puzzle tactic and dodging than twitch aiming since lock on shooting is returning

It's probably just nostalgia talking, but I really prefer the Prime control scheme on console over the twin stick control that is standard now. I understand that it probably only works when the game is designed from the ground up with those controls in mind but I can't stand trying to aim with a controller.
It might also be leftover trauma from playing Turok as a kid, hated those controls.

I played Prime 1 for the first time a couple months ago as well and found it excellent. It's just not really an fps, it's more of a 3D interpretation of Super Metroid. It's about exploration and hitting blue things with blue beam while hitting yellow things with yellow beam. Not a shooting game.
