I mostly play arcade games now though I read too many books to tolerate vidya cutscenes and dumbass nigger hold the left stick forward while some nigger talks down to you "entertainment"
my only exception this year has been catherine full body. I replayed it like 4 times before clearing axis mundi, I wish more modern vidya would take arcade cues like that.
I just got a high score in lumines 2nd loop

Every game that I like I replay a bunch of times. Even games I don't particularly care for that have time trials, I'll replay them for that. Like I still did a bunch of time trials in the n.sane trilogy and I'm pretty indifferent about that. Like I'm sure I've replayed certain stages in that like 20 times.

And a lot of them are.
Wow anon what an interesting and profound statement. This surely contributes to the general discussion.
>>716215524 (OP)
Anyway, shitloads my nigga.
All arcade games are meant to be replayed until you beat them with one credit.
All old Resident Evil games encourage replaying as the faster you beat them the more things you can unlock.
Both RE4 and the remake encourage replays as they have a lot of different weapons that work differently.
RE5 has the mercenaries mode with a lot of maps that you replay until you get the best rank.
DMC 1,3,4,5 are supposed to be played until you S rank everything on the hardesr difficulty.
Bayonetta 1 as well.
Ninja Gaiden Black and Vanilla 2 only really start on the hardest difficulty for which you have to play the games multiple times to unlock.
Tactic rpg games allow you to play them with various other units.
Online multiplayer shooters like CS, MOBA games, racing and fighting are created to be replayable.

I have a hot take. Most modern games aren't made to be replayed. They have a ton of collectibles that will extend a first playthrough, all of the little optional upgrades that you'll scour the game for, but you won't have any interest in doing all of that again. Meanwhile, games like Mario Bros, Donkey Kong Country, and Megaman are highly replayable because you just go in there and play the game without being burdened with collectibles.

It is vapid, compare a kojima movie game to fitzcarraldo. It's like people who praise evangelion because it has lots of crosses and blood pools. Anyone can look up spoopy wartime sociological experiments and throw soapy drama on top of them and pass it off as a story, daytime television does it every single day. You're better off playing a real video game with actual gameplay than spending hundreds of hours making a "video essay" on unfun digital morphine for people who want to shut their brain off.

Games are meant to be won, not experienced. I don't wait until I forget how to play chess, or go, or shogi, to replay them again. That would be stupid. If the only way to enjoy a game is to experience it for the first time, well it's definitely not a good game, and arguably not a game at all, but rather a movie (experienced) or a puzzle. (solved)

After quite a few years of not playing any higher speed action games, sat down and did DMC3 as a pure gunslinger on normal. Got As and Bs the entire way through and only died a handful of times. Felt good shaking off the rust.

Every dictionary ever made plus its usage in general human language, plus common sense. If the "clearing the obstacles" bit isn't the most appealing part of the game, then obviously it's a bad game, and obviously it's probably not very replayable. I think the definition will change soon, as humanity is growing dumber and more distant from self-actualization. Obviously the gameplay is the most appealing part of the game, and you're favorite interactive experience movie game won't outlive anything with proper gameplay. People are still gunna be playing Go 1000 years from now and no one is gunna give a shit about Halo any more. Learning and acquiring mastery is the appeal of games.

Tony Hawk is a good example of a game that is always fun to replay. I wish they had a difficulty harder than "Sick" because it gets too easy after a while. 2D Sonic (esp. Mania) are also perfect for that.

I don't understand why people choose to replay big ass games like JRPGs or Dark Souls etc. Sekiro is my goat and I only played it once because I'm not a boomer/zoomer autist that goes insane when something is not familiar or predictable.

EYE
I put in a good 40 hours on a new character with at least a quarter of that time grinding, but I couldn't complete the tech tree in that short time, so I just went back to my old saves with everything unlocked
The drop rates for the rarest research pieces is just absurd, which is sad for a game that's geared toward replayability.
I'd wager you'd be lucky to find everything in a 100 hours of casual play if you weren't farmind Jians on New Eden like a madman going for that ArchaeoTechnology and Antic mechanisms
It's still super fun to play though, can't argue against that

If it's a true remake/ remaster, then although one might not have played that explicitly specific version, they have played that game, in all metrics that matter
>The translation isn't 1:1, and does/ doesn't include an extra item
kinda stuff shouldn't make/ break that difference
Now, if they were to say ff7Re instead of ff3PR, that certainly wouldn't count.

I don't think these count because they are meant to be replayable, but I've been re-reading some Murakami Haruki books (just finished A Wild Sheep Chase) I haven't touch in more than a decade. Coming across the details I missed when I read them in my teens has made them more enjoyable.

>or Dark Souls
Because you can beat the games relatively quickly even if you aren't intentionally speed running and there is a lot of builds to play with. When you realise that most of these games combat ecounters are optional, you can just go somewhere, pick up what you want to use and go fight the next boss. You don't even have to grind souls as you can just use boss souls to level up because you know in advance wheter or not you need their souls on repeat playthroughs.
As for JRPGs, it makes sense if they replay them after a few years.
