we don't even really know how the brain works and you expect true virtual reality to be a thing?

Why does it have to be an entire fucking helmet? VR headsets are getting smaller because it's cumbersome to wear something so large.

i used to think that Half life 3 would be so technologically advance its going to go beyond VR and instead, its a pill that has all the componends to make your brain feel like you're in HL3. you go into a deep sleep and the game lasts 10 hours.

because our timeline doesn't have a mega brain autist like kayaba who figures out how human brain interfaces work and makes a game around it just because he wanted to

YOU ARE ALREADY IN THE FULL DIVE VR WORLD, BUT HAVE FORGOTTEN ABOUT IT DUE TO AN ACCIDENT.
ALL OF YOUR MEMORIES FROM YOUR LIFE ARE ASSETS.
YOUR MIND IS IN A VERY DANGEROUS STATE, SO WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU DIVE OUT IMMEDIATELY.

WE APOLOGIZE FOR ACCIDENTALLY INSTALLING PSEUDO-MEMORY ASSET DATA FOR AN NPC ONTO YOUR VR ACCOUNT.
THIS IS WHY YOUR LIFE IS MADE UP OF EXTREMELY BORING AND MUNDANE MEMORIES.
PLEASE STOP PLAYING VR IMMEDIATELY AND RETURN TO YOUR ORIGINAL, INTERESTING AND SPECIAL LIFE.

>why won't it work
A lot of reasons, here's just some:
1 - while it is theoretically possible to stimulate neurons to fire with microwaves, in practice this is impossible. Neurons are tiny, microwaves are strong, even if you had the tech to target individual neurons you'd still be generating way too much heat to do anything
2 - it's generally a bad idea to strap a magnetron to your fucking skull
3 - human brains are individual, there are general patterns but mapping out one person's brain to be able to feed them information and interpret their motor impulses won't make the machine work for anyone else
4 - people already don't like VR because it's disorienting and cuts off your senses which makes people uneasy, people aren't going to go for a machine that basically puts you in a coma when it's working properly
4 - setting aside the safety issues in microwaving your fucking brain what happens when someone dies in a fire while in-game because they couldn't feel the heat or hear the rescue crews?

Point 4 can be averted with sensors in the system, as depicted ingame (Automatic detection and warning of heart rate increase)

If you die while diving itโ€™s kinda a skill issue
