Based Nvidia, after fake resolution and fake frames. Now it's turn for fake textures:

reminder that all the nvidia AI bullshit is bloatware & wasted compute power.

nvidia is so bloated that just by enabling freestyle filters it takes a 5-15% performance hit even if you have no freestyle filters enabled.

It would make sense for older cards, just like DLSS and frame gen, but instead they will be exclusive to only the latest gen cards.

>It would make sense for older cards, just like DLSS and frame gen
DLSS and framegen don't make sense for old cards. This is just how poorfags like to co-opt things and pretend they were made for them. DLSS works better the higher your output resolution is, which means it's best for 4k-8k. Framegen works best for 70+fps, not people who struggle with getting to that fps. DLSS is for people with good computers, not a crutch for poorfags because it produces worse results there.

It'll run on every card. This is one of those "cooperative rendering" things AMD/Nvidia/Intel are all doing at the same time. But it'll work for future games only, I don't see this working retroactively unless some really extensive modding comes into play.

Yet another Nvidia tech gimmick that will be used by a dozen games total, run horribly because of it, and then stops being supported by new Nvidia cards five years later.

It's dramatically slower but it gives Nvidia an excuse to keep selling you GPUs with insufficient VRAM. Everything below the 5090 drops a tier of performance when enabling this.

Framegen eats up a significant chunk of your base fps to achieve in 90% of games. 60fps native (x2 to ~90fps) means you'll have the latency and smearing of 45fps. It's especially bad on older cards and not worth using at all.
I've only found it useable when I'm already 100+fps and use it to hit 120 or 144

If an Nvidia gaming GPU gets more VRAM, it turns into an AI mining card and it'll be near-impossible for a gamer to get their hands on it. Neural texture compression seems like a ridiculous workaround that allows the cards to essentially free up a lot more VRAM in videogames but the benefits of this won't extend to AI data server shit, so it's an attempt to solve the VRAM problem without dooming the cards to being enslaved to AI data server shit.

The thing is, doubling 45 FPS isn't that bad. It adds some latency but it's acceptable for single player. When people say 60 FPS is a minimum for framegen it still holds true, they just meant somewhere in the 40s doubled to somewhere in the 80s-90s is acceptable, not that it literally has to be 120 or it sucks.
