Is the 2014 remaster on Steam a downgrade or not? Should you play that or play the original via Dolphin?

Don't listen to cubesnoys. PS2 is the version you want.

PC port is terrible and HD mod looks utterly soulless and sterile, hard avoid.

I modded it with some HD textures. Looks alright, although I still think the control scheme change is retarded.

Being able to play the game with the silencer is cool.

Gamecube NTSC is the harder version than the later releases. Also the game was balanced around controller aiming. If you're playing the Steam version then get the re_tweaks mod and don't bother with anything below professional.

Gamecube JP and PAL have the same balance and difficulty. NTSC version is basically a rom hack.
