You can rebind it to that in the emulator

too dumb to adapt?

there's no emulator in ape escape

Yeah, I miss this era of experimentation. Not every game needs to have the same controls.

Cowards! Ape Escape's control scheme is great just play the game for literally more than 5 minutes & you will get used to it.
Anonymous No.716242759
The new ape escape will be an over-the-shoulder third person shooter with dodges and parries because of people like you.

Jumping with R1 is an extremely underrated control scheme because it allows you to have access to your face button actions while jumping. I use it for Smash and have never gone back.

It was ahead of its time. Apparently still is for complete midwits (you)

FUCK ROCKET MONKEYS. WORST ENEMY IN THE SERIES.

>JUMP WITH R1
Wish this was the norm. It frees your thumb and lets you do other actions more freely.
>>716242996
Remember when a journo hated alien resurections (PS1) dualstick controls for what later became the industry norm.

>JUMP WITH R1
They were so close to perfection but still so far.
Jump should be L1.

Honest to god truth.
I don't think any other game has influenced my music taste in the way Ape escape did.

I'd put the ape escape series above even Mario 64 if it didn't have broken shit like moon bouncing. They are so close to being absolute perfection, just needs one more real genuine sequel
Anonymous No.716246829 >>716247496
This is the only collectathon I really enjoy. Got no urge to ever replay Mario 64 or try to finish any other collectathon I played in the past, but I could definitely enjoy doing another 100% playthrough of Ape Escape.
I never even played the sequels, first game has just always been all I need.

Ape Escape 1 was Fantastic, honestly probably my favorite collectathon

Ape Escape 2 while it has flaws I still actually enjoyed it

Never touched 3, I heard it's also good but never had the time

Probably because there isn't that many collectathons where the main collectibles fight back :)
It's such a nice dynamic.

Rebind actions to random shit, experiment lover.

So how do you move the camera
Anonymous No.716248306
>>716248039
iirc L1 focuses the camera to where you're facing, and the d-pad can be used to look around.

You don't need it because you don't need be aware of your surroundings all the time. Worked fine for Mario 64 too. There's no bullshit hidden collectible off camera either so you don't have to assume the game is out to fuck with you.
