AvP 1 - campaign is complete dogshit, horrible balance, maze-like levels, awful FMVs for the story, sometimes doesn't even tell you what the next objective is, I would skip it
AvP2 - campaign is awesome, well thought out, you see a realistic Weyland Yutani facility from multiple different viewpoints, better gameplay, better story, better everything
AvP2 Expansion - Some good story, awful maps, worth a try

AvP2 had insanely fun multiplayer but there's one AvP schizo who always comes into every AvP thread to complain about AvP2 and how AvP1 is the only good game. Also AvP 2010 is absolute shit, slow ass lame downgrade in every way that people only played as a cope.

I played them all but nowadays I only replay the marine campaigns every now and then.

Facehuggers in AVP1 are perfect. Makes me break out into a cold sweat everytime while being an incredibly fair enemy.

Facehuggers in AVP2 are just retarded. Insanely fast, dodging every grenade launcher round you shoot at them, glitchily leaping at your face and not grabbing on since it's not registering properly, it's an odd mess. Thankfully they're not really wandering in the wild most of the time.

I stopped playing as a kid when the facehuggers started showing up. The instant death and jump scare of them latching on your face was too much.

AvP2 campaign is well worth playing. The expansion off my kid memory was pretty fucking mediocre. If multiplayer is still alive then try a survival game on Quarantine or whatever the map from Aliens 4 is with the ship. Great memories of holding the line with fellow marines on quarantines bottom section.

i remember avp1 marine "campaign" (it was random levels from movies strung together) was extremely dark. to the point that flares were a must have accessory. That and between the limited save system I am surprised I even finished it

Kino in every way, go download it and Primal Hunt for free. I’ve played both the boxed version and the free download version, they’re identical except for a few graphical glitches that can occur. Look up a dude called KingKenny if you encounter any of them, he’s a modder that’s uploaded some fixes.

Also known as AvP 2010. Was and still is far worse than AvP2 in every way but had fun multiplayer in its day and the story was serviceable. Servers are a ghost town now, sadly.

VR does not need any special versions. Just make regular game, like usual, then make the VR port run with full 3d and adjusted UI elements so they are readable with the headset

traditional controls work great with seated play and are even preferable for fast and responsive gameplay.
