I feel like you can still enjoy the game even if you end up fucking hating the companions. I still enjoyed BG3 despite how terrible the companions in that are, and I think the companions in WOTR are better. If you end up hating them there is a mechanic where you can hire silent mercenary characters to make a custom party.

I would feel kind of guilty doing that. Lot of effort went into making it so I'd try to give it the necessary attention if I did play it. Heard lots of praise about WOTR over the years and was just surpised it might have had furry companions I never knew about.

Companion. Just Nenio, the Kitsune. Wenduag is often described as a spider cat, but she's more of a monster girl than a furry. Also Nenio isn't a romance option because she is profoundly autistic so don't get your hopes up.
