yes. i've played a lot of games and i feel like it stands out. it has a lot of options and all the mechanics work really well. enemies have varied weaknesses. it really feels like you're playing a futuristic version of the originals combat, like AC in video game form. and on top of that it's not easy. i feel like every mistake is the fault of the player, because everything works so well and is so well designed.

No it doesn't in fact it's the complete opposite. Tactical Mode flies in the face of FF7s combat design philosophy.
in FF7 you could not slow the game down and carefully think about your decisions. it was frantic. if you didn't act quick enemies would keep attacking you while you sat in the command menu. no one waited for you the game forced you to play fast.

ATB was a bar that would fill up over time based o your spd stat.
in 7R "ATB" is not ATB at all. it's a Special meter like any other generic action game. it fills up when you attack the enemy and you need special build to make it fill up over time.
Combat is also so heavily scripted and insulting in it's complete lack of value of gameplay. everything you to play well just results in the Bosses HP bar being locked and several scripted movies playing. because despite ostensibly having action mechanics, This shit is even more of a fake railroaded movie than the turnbased original.

There's no cool organic shit you can do with boss fights. No crazy as fuck DMC Boss ownage because if you try anything you'll just be interrupted by the artificial HP bar and cutscenes., NO wild DM skips like Kingdom hearts.
