Nintendo though is using a mass-market strategy, pushing this cutesy children's stuff to "all ages". That's why the Nintendo games aren't relegated to the kid's aisle, they are front and center. They are the most purchased games in the entire world.
The result is, the entire videogaming population is turned into manchildren obsessed with nostalgia. The whole "speedrunning" phenomenon is a sad attempt to introduce adult-level difficulty and adult-level competitive drive into silly children's games, it's just so fucking sad.
