>Raise price to $80
>immediately back pedal because nobody wants to buy your game
Is this the most embarrassing dev moment in years?

everything else in the world gets more expensive every year, why should videogames be the only exception?

because the rest of the crap trying to scam as much money out of me as possible is actually essential to living unlike games

Western slop gets bargained binned almost immediately. There is no point in buying any of it on release.

I think this was cool of them

Likely wonโ€™t boost sales much, but itโ€™s a cute bit. Actually makes me want to buy the game, I plan on checking it out now

>raise game to egregious price
>lower game by 10 bucks and make would be consoomers think they are getting a deal

I think I legit hate developers. They absolutely ruined the hobby, quadruple down on their propaganda, then charge you for shit on a virtual disc. Only journalists are worse.

while it explains why they're embarrassing, I still think having to publicly shut down an entire studio, yank the game from all systems, and then eat crow over $400M loss is more embarrassing than dropping your price back down $10.

Because video games (and other digital media, but videogames especially) are very susceptible to piracy. It's a fine line convincing people to fork over shekels when the free version is RIGHT there.
