It's ultimately very simple once you figure out how everything works, but there's a lot to figure out, especially when you consider that every horse has different styles and campaigns. So for a free game I could see someone totally disinterested in gacha easily sinking 50 hours into it and that still being time well spent, especially when there's an accompanying manga and anime that's actually really shockingly good. It's a fun sports simulator mechanically, with a great accompanying franchise, and it made me really think about Japanese horse racing which I never would have done previously.
With other gacha I find the typical "gameplay" is either
