Why do western localizers always force fake edginess on characters even the most cartoony goofy whimsical ones? Is this some kind of mutt mentality?

This is probably one of the reasons Americans are so neurotic, even when someone is 6 they get fed violence in the subtlest ways, it's cool to be violent, it's uncool and cringe to be happy.
No wonder they shoot up schools later on and see therapists all the time even though in most countries we don't even have the concept of that.
Americans even get denied anything remotely sexual growing up, they could witness realistic murder in a videogame and be completely chill with it but a woman in her underwear gets them worked up so much harder, messed up human beings.
