Aside from the drama, the game is meh, i only knew it from disguised fetish art years ago.

what does /v/ think about the game?

>findingg your annoying dog
>evil corperation with your demon parents
>some old pedo who actiavtes yoru powers
>being in a furryville
>fighting demon guys

this is literally an anime plot, there is no consistent plot

It's hard to discuss without people thinking you are biased, but I just find it incredibly uninteresting. It feels like an aimless series of disconnected events that is playing at something deep while everything it has to say is completely surface level.
Also the combat minigames are boring, the fights take too long and it's just doing the same 4 actions over and over but faster.
The soundtrack isn't awful, generally forgettable except a couple songs do stand out as quite annoying and repetitious.
Overall 3/10, I don't see it improving even if it was completed, it would just be more of the same.

For a game that has been supposedly worked on for 8 years, it doesn't seem like it.

>trauma dump undertale copycat with mommy issues as the final boss
>mostly a walking/talking sim with a forced so quirky dialogue
Shocking it's taking so long to finish the game when it's such an absolute nothing burger compared to the other dime a dozen "depression analogy rpg" games out there
Like there's not even any sort of amusing gameplay gimmick

The mum isn't even a final boss! She's the boss of Chapter 1. The whole judgement thing doesn't even make sense since you only had one chapter to make decisions.
That is assuming there are other combat sections in the future...

>It feels like an aimless series of disconnected events
Probably because it's an author's self insert sort of story without much.
>sad home life
Probably a bit of a trauma dump since it seems he's not found of his mom, but likes his dad and accordingly in the game she's a bitch and the father is a hero.
>corporate chapter
"working at blizzard sucked", the level
>furry chapter
His maldavius figtree days are common knowledge at this point, probably made based on those times.

But credit where credit is due I think the art is really good. Well except some of the furry chapter's characters but that's probably just me being biased on being uneasy by "that" type of style.

Oh, and from what I've heard the writing is filled to the brim with in-jokes and such shit for/from his twitch fans so go figure that for a third party it would seem like nonsense in parts

Heartbound is what I imagine people who hate Undertale think Undertale is. Because say what you will about Undertale but at least it mixes up it's fairly basic combat and keeps the dialogue snappy while playing great music. Heartbound is just so much nothing. The characters are one note, the music is whatever, and the battle system is just as basic as Undertale but you don't even get twists on it like with Papyrus/Undyne/Metaton. The only thing that it really improves on is the sprite art is generally better quality than Undertale, but it's not so good that it'll make up for everything else.

This game is never going to be finished. As a software developer myself I would rather be flogged than try to work on this codebase. You'd need a complete refactor on multiple key systems before you could even reasonably continue development. And this all assumes the developer actually wants to finish the game rather than just pretend to be a game developer for a twitch audience.

It's still funny that it has a morality system but there is no incentive to do the dick option other than the bad voice told you to do the bad choice.
Like, the apple stealing choice. In a competent game, the apple would be a rare healing item that you could possibly want but that would be stealing and puts up a moral dilemma and challenges the way that most people play RPGs (Steal everything not nailed to the ground). At this point, it's not even an issue of implementation, ideas wise nothing works.

No, he's not. People who've known and interacted with him don't like him. He's arrogant and blatantly lies. Misled people constantly for views constantly claiming he's a game dev for Blizzard now downgraded to works at Blizzard. Bans people for asking simple questions with a big ban counter.
He's literally just a lolcow aproaching DSP levels of mental disconnect the only difference being his dad probably has enough money for him to live comfortably so he can eventually just fuck off and not be forced to be a clown for money.

A lot of morality in video games is like that sadly, developers just don't know how to tempt players anymore. I think it comes from a lot of RPG developers no longer having a tabletop RPG background. But I remember this being an issue as far back as Bioshock, where the nice choice was objectively the best one because you ended up with more of the special reward juice from sparing the little girls than killing them. Then the ending hits you with something like "You knew that there was something more important than anything; a family" like I didn't save all those girls just to get more ADAM and ammo on top of that. Some RPGs are okay at it but even in ones where I think the general morality is better written, they still get this kind of thing wrong because they're afraid to punish the player for cooperating. Take me back to Gothic where accepting a quest sometimes leads you to getting mugged because the quest giver pegged you for an easy mark.

Bioshock did it wrong but I can see where it was trying to go, with the morality choice being "Do I take a bigger payout now or wait for rewards down the line?". The problem being that the "rewards down the line" came too frequently and gave you much more than the greedy option. Tying it as well to "To kill or not to kill this child" was dumb as well.

it's bad. it aims to be an elaborate choose your own adventure but it lacks basics like, you know, a plot or even marginally interesting characters
it is interesting when viewed as a doomed attempt to create art by a clinical narcissist. a solipsistic player character acting out a vapid self-absorbed nonstory while all the other characters are purely window dressing or perform a function. wild to think that somebody's magnum opus would be this intellectually and spiritually void, and yet he somehow doesn't realize it and still presents it to the public
