Oh god I forgot how ass the Body of the Many is. It makes Xen look like a good level. Why were 90s games so good until the last level where they always just give up and shit out some fuck awful level that quickly wraps everything up?

Because they ran out of time and money and had to ship the game.

the body of the many does a good job of highlighting the issues with thief's engine regarding vertical movement.
always quicksave before a ladder or rope arrow climb in thief

What always got me was that one section where Shodan sends you to previous decks once you reach the bridge, and the game immediately goes from occasionally spawning one hybrid in a corner every ten minutes to going apeshit and vomiting high level enemies at you non-stop. I fucking hate that, trying to remember the core access code while rumblers endlessly spawn behind you is horrible.
She doesn't even need the core rigged to explode, she straight up tells you this when you finally kill The Many. So why even send us there you metal retard?

SS1 is less of an immersive sim and more an FPS with a few unlockables. I prefer SS2, but it really falls off in the final act. The game should just end when you get to the Rickenbacker, the final hour or two is a slog with dwindling ammo supplies and so much bullshit.

The final section had some cool ideas. Shame SHODAN decides to betray you five minutes before the ending just so you can go NAH to her face and shoot her before anything interesting happens.

Nah, ss1 is still a good game but the levels get autistic and cryptic at times, and the game really starts to overstay it's welcome in security and afterwards. SS2 is a lot more focused and the execution of the RPG mechanics pays off better.

You must have glitched the game out or something, there's a bunch of extra spawns but there's no endless spam like what you're describing. I've done loadsaplaythroughs and never seen that happen
