I've only played the NES trilogy so far. For 3, I played the Japanese version first, but then I manned up and beat the US version thrice. The Doppelgรคnger can suck my cheesy dick though.

Lucky you. Even just limiting yourself to the Classicvanias, you've got several great games ahead:
>IV
>Bloodlines
>Rondo of Blood
>X68000
>Belmont's Revenge
>Adventure: ReBirth
You'll probably like some of these more than others but they're all excellent and worth playing.

I've only played the classic games, but yeah it's pretty good. Castlevania 1 is so fun I replay the whole thing in one sitting sometimes, and Dracula's Curse is probably the best NES game ever.

Currently playing through Circle of the Moon, and man I reached the point where those green statues get destroyed, and the 2 paths that opened up are pure AIDS.
>poisonous sewer
>poisonous insects eternal hallways
While Harmony bored me to death with the backtracking, CotM is just pissing me off with the lack of drops, lack of new items and just annoying enemy after annoying enemy.
AoS is still the best GBA title for me. I finished that game and wanted to replay it immediately. I jumped straight into the Boss Rush mode.

Dawn of Sorrow is the best, Order of Ecclesia is the 2nd worst Igavania, it is the worst if you dont count Circle of the Moon

I don't know why they didn't really bother retrying the versatility of the whip with its directional input and grappling hook utility. Like I get the guy who developed that game got kicked upstairs into management and it does introduce balancing issues. But it's still pretty fun to use it versatility.

cry about it, i forward dash to every castlevania thread on the internet defending this game

its has a good level design, satisfying combat, great movement, and, personally, i like the bright graphics, the sprites are also quite detailed, a giantic step up from CotM

the soundtrack is subpar tho, i wont defend that, its like, NES quality in terms of the quality of the sound, while the other GBA games sound much more Advanced, pun intended

Frankenstein feels harder for me than Death, I think.
I think with Death I have him in the bag once I've 've got a 2 or 3 level Cross. With Frankenstein it feels like I'm brute forcing the fight by jumping and trying to whip the hell out of him, as the Knife subweapon is hard to be precise with.

DS-vanias are all kinda weird and bad in different ways. Iga got too far away from the Belmonts, and the proper formula along with it. Can't exactly blame the man for getting tired of it all, but experimental results are not exactly fun.

even then no part of PoR is as bad as Ruvas Forest, that pic didnt do it justice, because hey, other Igavanias have linear sections, look at the Bridge of Evil in Bloodstained

the thing is, the forest doesnt even have a single fucking platform to activate your neurons in any capacity, it is, in the most literal sense, a linear map

OoE doesn't mesh the MP with hearts, hearts are used for glyph union attacks. Also how is it disconnected, you traverse through various levels to lead to other levels on the map, like traveling through a pathway, crossing a body of water, going through the prison area that's near the ocean and then finally getting to the light house

I don't mean that MP and hearts are literally the same, I mean that you have both of them, resources from different styles combined into a single weird system. MP is just used for basic attacks and recovers nigh-instantly. Guess you could also call it a remix of SotN, but it also had a bunch of other weird unique stuff that was never iterated upon.
>how is it disconnected
Level by level. Like in a classicvania. Except you still have more igavania areas, just smaller. And modern movement (with modern lack of pits), which makes corridor levels a joke.

Phrased it poorly, meant that *SotN* has a bunch of mechanics that never came up later. Item-based fast travel, motion inputs, unique shield/familiar slots.
But now that you bring up that OoE levels suck only 10% of the time, I can also say that everything that's not Dracula's Castle is also mostly linear sequences, with the occasional opportunity to go in an optional deadend direction. Fucking Hotel Mario.

First of all "re-added" 20 years later in a kickstarter re-whatever is hardly a gotcha.
Secondly, I am not saying any of that is bad in principle, just that it wasn't really elaborated upon for a while.

The yellow ones that petrify especially put my piss to a boil. It's so annoying having to mash buttons to get out of it while you're vulnerable to taking more damage.

Game is too hard. I can beat Punch Out without save states. Castlevania is too hard.
