He was one of the last survivors of a genocided race trying to deceive one of his killers into maybe not murdering the shit out of them more.
Except he really wasn't, because he was actually a robot pretending to be some other robots pretending to that first guy.
Understand?

Fem Morgan being a lesbian and Man Morgan being straight is honestly the only way they could have done it without it feeling REALLY gay.

Like, going in you're not expecting there to be a romantic interest subplot in a system shock 2 clone, you probably just chose female because you have yellow fever and she's moderately attractive in the constraints of the weird art style, it means you get to see her and listen to her in the recordings that way. Imagine picking fem Morgan and then 3/5 (roughly?) of the way through the game you find out that she has a male lover that is playing the damsel in distress role (as the other anon pointed out) that loves you and wants to kiss and hug you and shit, it would be so extremely fucking gay it might even get me to restart the playthrough.

Lesbians are less gay than being straight when the player picked female and the target audience of the game is 80%+ straight men. It's like playing Cyberpunk 2077 as FemV and romancing River instead of Judy. GAY.

Pride and sunk-cost fallacy.

He genuinely believed in what the company could do in expanding human evolution, which was doubled down by Alex's belief/willingness to push past ethical limitations. So when issues started to appear slowly, he hired specific individuals to try to put out the fires, even if it meant "dealing" with others. Then, inevitably, it all blew up. But he was already too far in and believed he could fix it. He just needed time, even though half the station was dead or dying. This carries over to his real life persona too. The world is ending and he's still doing extremely risky experiments, hoping that diving even further into what created the nightmare (the Typhon), he can find a solution. He can employ another force to facilitate what he needs. He just needs time and to find a way to control/convince more people, including the Typhon itself.

The problem is that he could be considered right in some situations, you could even argue that the ends justifies the means. But whether that's the case is up to the player. Either way though, he's a prideful bastard that will look at a station filled with corpses and say, "Just give me a bit of time, I can fix this. It'll all be worth it in the end."

It's been a while since I've played Prey but was there a specific reason why the Typhon had to feed on humans to reproduce? Couldn't they feed on animals or something instead?

There's probably some email or note that says something along the lines of it needing to utilize a human's neurotransmitters/mirror neurons, but, honestly? I genuinely don't remember there being an example of an animal coming into contact with a Typhon.

Maybe the reason they never experimented with animals was because the main goal was to eventually take their matter and turn it into neuromods that helped replicate human skills/experiences. So maybe the logic was that they wouldn't want Typhon material duplicated from animals if it's supposed to be used to replicate human experiences.

NTA, but Shodan is definitely set up to be a twist in the game. It's a fucking terrible twist since she's on the goddamn cover art, but still. You go for half the game believing the lady telling you where to go/what to do is just another survivor fighting back against The Many. But then there's a big reveal of it just being Shodan.

The twist isn't that she was going to be a villain since it's obvious she will stab you in the back one The Many are dealt with, but the twist that she even exists was something they tried. Poorly, but still.

Beside trying to save humanity? He misses his dead brother/sister.

If you read into a lot of his dialogue from being in the simulation with (you), both his calls and his audio logs are full of some really heavy regret.

'Remember when we were kids, that time I broke your arm because you deleted my perfect save file in that stupid game?'

'I regret that now.'

There was a romance subplot in this game???? I remember the forced lesbian shit but that was between two NPCs, not the protag and an NPC. I don't remember any woman you have to save or whatever.

Dunno, setting up a research station to feed food, and lying about that food being deserving of what happened to them, to a dangerous species that is difficult to contain and represents an existential threat to humanity sounds pretty incorrect and wrong.
