They claim it's an old style that's been done a million times, but it's a new style that hasn't been done once.
I've never seen a game that has a distant skybox (castle) and a closer skybox (the town and distant road), where the closer flat 2D skybox seamlessly becomes a 3D world made of 2D billboard sprites when you approach it. It's implied that this would happen all the way to the castle.
They seem to deny what they're actually seeing with their eyes and lazily lump it in with an existing style.
>it's just like Daggerfall!
WRONG. Daggerfall has a normal skybox with 2D billboard sprites that pop in out of no where. The terrain is also not completely flat like Daggerfall.
>it's just like [fully 3D polygon game]
WRONG. It's a 2D skybox that becomes a 3D play space made of 2D billboard sprites. Fully 3D vistas look different.
>it's voxels
WRONG. Voxels are 3D cubes. What are you seeing that suggests this could be made with voxels? The distance would look nothing like a flat skybox and the close things would look nothing like 2D billboard sprites. These retards see a bit of pixelation and shout voxel for some reason.
>it's been done a million times
ok, name one game and post video proof. There's been tens of threads and not a single game that replicates this style.
