amd drivers on linux have always been more stable and with plenty of community driven solutions and fixed
nvidia drivers on linux are basically new, lots of linux distros are pretty much unusable for gaming if you have an nvidia gpu, and only recently there has been a surge to try and make them more usable cause due to steam os and more generally proton advancement, more people are trying linux on pc than before, so while before it was normal for people to know in advance that gaming on linux = amd, now more people want to try linux on their windows pc regardless of what gpu they have

in short, for the longest time it was

i also have a low-mid end couch/living room PC with bazzite(custom linux OS with Steam OS gaming mode) with an amd gpu
of the games i have installed on that low-mid end and linux pc, all of them run flawlessly out of the box
if i install linux on my main high end pc, more than half won't run with the same performance or won't even run at all

This is a common misconception. Given the same hardware GNU/Linux isn't doing anything that NT doesn't also have to do.

Win32 games are no more native on a VMS clone like NT than they are on GNU/Linux based platforms. Both platforms run games for a fantasy "Windows" platform that doesn't actually exist outside of their respective compatibility layers.
GNU/Linux does tend to use user-space implementations of graphics APIs, but when graphics hardware vendors tend to implement high-level APIs using their own internal mid-level APIs, and the quality and standard compliance of those drivers varies wildly, user-space implementations written using the low-level Vulkan standard aren't really at a performance disadvantage.
Especially when there is as much documentation and experience working with a hardware architecture like there is for GCN/RDNA.

Whole reason that DXVK took over. Vendor specific drivers like Gallium Nine didn't offer enough advantages.

it's been quite a few years that amd drivers aren't as buggy as they used to be, and for the past year or so there hasn't been any major issue, and the few issues that happened were minor and resolved with hotfixes that were released 1 week from og release at most
on the other hand nvidia drivers have been more than once buggy or unstable multiple times since the last generation(4000 series), with fixes only coming several weeks later if not months later in the next driver versions, with the most common suggested "fix" being to jusr revert to the previously working driver version

amd were the laughing stock on windows for their driver mess for a long time, but that has ended quite some time ago despite people keep pushing this meme, and recently nvidia is being a mess

Nvidia has an absolute metric fuck tonne of issues on Linux but it's been slowly getting better over the last year, but progresses in bug fixing has been excruciatingly slow since they very much don't seem to give a shit about it and only have a small handful of devs allocated to it. There are several bugs that are marked as known that have been open for multiple years.
